Your assessment is spot on. That's Ivan, he's part bangal so he is truly is a mischievous one. If he's not sleeping, he's playing. If you don't pay attention to him, he will knock things over and start meowing until you do. Currently, his method is to knock the decorations off the bottom of the Christmas tree. He is frustrating at times (after a 10-13 hour workday, I'm not always up for playtime and I can't count how many times he's spilled things and broken several others), but his entertainment factor more than makes up for it. He is also fairly affectionate and quite a sweetheart.

 I gave up putting up a Christmas tree about 30 years ago.  The first cat I owned (named Vixen) after I moved out of my parents' house knocked my tree over 3 times and after that I just gave up trying.  Squirrel is such a brat I can only imagine the havoc he'd wreak on a Christmas tree.  Forget it!  He causes enough chaos as it is; I don't need to give him more material to work with.
