The band is apparently playing this entire album on tour this summer. Where does this rank for you guys among the Armored Saint discography?

Personally, I've probably overlooked this in favor of their classics and most recent albums. I should have a chance to see the tour in Chicago in July though. I'm looking forward to revisiting this one.

It's the only Saint album I own. I like it. Plenty of hooks. But kind of gritty and powerful.

It's a rock solid release from them. It's a great listen from start to finish.

I don't think it's their best, but still very good.

I will never be able to say that an Armored Saint album without Dave Pritchard playing on it is their best.

I'm about half way through SoS now, and I definitely agree, this album is great! Bush sounds fantastic. I don't know how I overlooked it until now.

SoS is the best metal album of '91. If any of you get the chance, pick up the 3cd version with Pritchard playing the whole album. Will give you shivers [does me every time]. Plus the track breakdown with Slagel is an amazing listen, too. Sorry guys - there is a reason they are not doing the entire Raising Fear or Delirious Nomad albums this tour.

This album was my introduction to the band, so that's going to taint my opinion slightly, but I do think it's their finest moment from a stellar catalog of music.

That's the version I have. If memory serves, not only is Symbol... Brian Slagel's favorite Armored Saint record, but I think he sez that it's his all time favorite release on Metal Blade. Which is pretty high praise considering how many stone-cold classics MB has in their catalog.

Haven't listened to them in a while but if memory serves they're pretty damn good. Not quite "album quality" but decent enough.

There's a story in the liner notes about how hard they worked to pull one of Pritchard's guitar solos from those demos so it could be used on the album. I forget which song it's in but they said when they finally pulled it off they felt like they'd won the Super Bowl.

Yea, what Freddy said. It's been awhile, but the recordings were pretty clean. Certainly not bad bootleg quality. The 3 cd set is worth it if you can find it for a decent price.
