The Tea Party-Tx 20 (20th anniversary Ep of Transmission remakes) The Tea Party-Seven Circles I'd use the ever-popular headbanger emoticon to show my appreciation but that doesn't really apply when talking about The Tea Party so I'll use this guy instead:
Haha! Thanks, man. Funny thing is all day at work as I was jamming 'em I kept thinking how my playlist would be "Toho approved". I also wondered being that 'Transmission' is your fave album if you had heard 'Tx 20'. The Tea Party is easily in my top 10 or even top 5 fave bands. Over the last year or so I find myself liking 'Splendor Solis' the best. Sure, it's not as refined as the albums that proceed it but there's something about it I can't explain.

| I haven't listened to Splendor Solis in forever but as I remember it, it reminded me of an updated version of something Led Zeppelin might have done. _________________ "The cat is the most ruthless, most terrifying of animals." - Spock in the "Catspaw" episode of ToS Season 2.

It is pretty cool to see you guys talking about the awesomeness that is the Tea Party - I have been a fan since high school and I would definitely say that Splendor Solis is a fabulous album. Being Canadian I was not sure how much success they had in the States but it is wicked that you guys know them.

I like the first three albums the most. They were quite popular in the 90s up here in Canada - but I do not hear much about them these days. I always felt that they were like some sort of bastard child of The Doors and Led Zeppelin. Great memory's of listening to them growing up and I still have Splendor Solis and Edges Of Twilight along with a Greatest Hits album.

That sounds about right to me. I definitely hear a lot of Zeppelin in there but along around Transmission I start hearing a few "industrial" touches here and there as well. _________________ "The cat is the most ruthless, most terrifying of animals." - Spock in the "Catspaw" episode of ToS Season 2.

That sounds about right to me. I definitely hear a lot of Zeppelin in there but along around Transmission I start hearing a few "industrial" touches here and there as well. Transmission was definitely flirting with industrial and consequently it was the last Tea Party album that I bought. That being said I have heard some of the works that they did after and I believe that I would enjoy most of what they have done. I hear a really heavy influence from Jimmy Page on Jeff Martin's guitar playing especially on those first two albums with an obvious attempt by Jeff to sound and sing like Jim Morrison. Funny thing is at least for me it does not sound contrived or fake and was actually of great appeal in regards to their output and live performances. Two incredible acts to be influenced by most definitely.

| I agree that Martin’s voice doesn’t sound contrived. I think you would find something to like in all their albums and for a while I didn’t like Transmission as much but over the last 3 years I finally “got it” and it’s just as good as anything else they’ve done. I’ll jam it tomorrow at work. | |

| I guess I'm partial to Transmission because that's how I discovered them.
That album was on a "Listening Post" at my local Camelot Records back in the day (remember Camelot? Better yet, remember "Listening posts"?). As usual when I find an album I really like I explore the artist's entire catalogue and I found I really liked The Tea Party even if their other albums didn't have that industrial edge that drew me in in the first place. _________________ "The cat is the most ruthless, most terrifying of animals." - Spock in the "Catspaw" episode of ToS Season 2.
