| Just got mine. Really surprised by Wrathchild. I like it. Transgressor, Heart of Metal and Into the Pit are big stand outs so far. Two thumbs up I was reading so much about this album sounding like Obituary, so I went to their myspace to check them out. I hear the similarities, but Ultimatum has a better bass player, and some really interesting songs. | |

| Awesome! Glad you like it journeyman.
I still don't see the Obituary connection, but several people have stated that already. _________________ ULTIMATUM - TOO METAL FOR WIKIPEDIA!

| I don't hear any comparison to Obituary at all. There must be a different Obituary that I don't know about. | |

| I don't care who people compare us to as long as people like it! I honestly think this is our best CD yet. I myself cannot stop listening to it and think that Robert, Rob, Alan, Augustine and Ysidro pulled out some of their best for this album. Robert's guitar solos are outstanding, as are the three solos that Augustine recorded. I especially like his solo on Blink. He took the original solo that Steve recorded and made it his own. _________________ ULTIMATUM - TOO METAL FOR WIKIPEDIA!

| I am not as familiar with thrash as most people on this board. This is due to my top 3 genres are Power, Speed, and Goth. However, thrash is #4 and I'm familiar with many of it (more so now). I've heard the greats: Testament, Metallica, Megadeth, Slayer, Exodus, Kreator, Anthrax, Tourniquet, Vengeance Rising, and Deliverance now I must add Ultimatum to the list. Until recently, I've just been a casual fan of them hearing some hear and there on compilations. However, I could never really get a hold on any, mainly due to them being out of print. Now thanks to Retroactive I was able to get Symphonic Extremeties and Puppet Of Destruction and while I like them and consider them great thrash albums, there was something missing. Into The Pit has filled in the missing piece and I can honestly say it is worth the hype. This is the album that should put them into the big leagues (if there is any justice in the music world). The best song for me is Heart Of Metal and the instrumental Into The Pit contains some killer guitar solos (as does most of the album but that is what one expects from thrash). Perhaps the most improved feature is the vocals. I personally have no problem with Scott's voice and felt that it fit the music real well however, a lot of reviews I've read on their previous work talked smack about the vocals (this should put their foot in their mouths). First class all around and a great example of what thrash sould be. I give five head bangs. . By the way I think I realize where the Obituary comparisson (sic) comes from. John Tardy's vocals are very similar to Ult's when he growls (and just like Blitz, Scott, and Souza, his voice has the same nasal-like quality to it). And while Obituary is death metal, they do have some thrash like qualities and guitar solos. That being said the music on Into the Pit is far superior to the music I've heard from Obituary. Out of curiosity Ult, is the album named after the Testament song or is it just coincidence? | |

The name has nothing to do with the Testament song, although I cannot say it's coincidence since I was fully aware of the Testament song by that name. The title to the CD actually came about when we started putting together the artwork for the CD with Rex. He came up with the demon creature and we started working with it around the theme "Into the Pit". We thought it was a cool double meaning. Into the Pit refers to the devil being chained down into the pit for a thousand years, taken from the Book of Revelation. However, it also has the mosh-meaning as well. That's the reason we picked it. The song "Into the Pit" came after we had already had the artwork and album title. Rob wrote the instrumental and wanted to use the "Into the Pit" theme for the song. _________________ ULTIMATUM - TOO METAL FOR WIKIPEDIA!

| Glad you like it Dallas! I'm personally very impressed and have already turned a lot of my friends onto them! I've actually loved Ultimatum for years. There is not an album that I 'don't' like. "Into the Pit" is easily their best album IMO. |

| I like them all, but I would rank them: 1. Into the Pit (this and the new Skeletonwitch are my picks for thrash albums of the year!) 2. Puppet of Destruction (I just love the Exodus 'vibe' on this one) 3. Symphonic Extremities (very underrated album) 4. Mechanics of Perilous Times (This one is my least fave, but I still like it!) I still don't have their first demo. Also didn't they have an album with a different singer? I am trying to collect all their stuff right now and I need it ALLLLL. |

| I have finally secured my copy. After saving much money towards a car, I was able to gather up some chump change and make my purchase. The album is very very good, although "Mechanics" is one of my favorites. I love the Vengeance Rising cover, "Burn". Anyway, I'm listening to "Into The Pit" while typing this up. Track 07- "Transgressor" Awesome song! Keep it up, guys! |

| You wouldn't know it by my posts I'm sure, but thrash used to be my favorite genre... I loved Metallica (got Kill 'em All in 83), Megadeth, Testament, Anthrax, Vengeance Rising, Deliverance, Sacrament, Believer, S.O.D., Exodus, Death Angel and I'm sure I'm missing several others., Forbidden, Violence.... Point being I've not really given thrash it's due in many years... Bro listening to your myspace clips.... Wow ! Into the Pit moves toward the top my buy list. I hear lots of legit comparisons as a point of reference, but this stuff smokes. Jeff Souza comparisons are only natural to these ears. But that's not a slam, but a true compliment. bang yer head indeed..... | |
