That's a VERY solid album! I could never get in to Amon Duul II, but after talking to a record shop owner buddy of mine, I think I tried the wrong album........ Hijack. He said that one isn't very good at all.

I wasn't a huge fan of the idea of non-Gabriel fronted Genesis, but I read a review that sparked me to reevaluate my stance (that I suppose a ton of people never got past), and I'm glad I did. I've had Dance on a Volcano in my head all day. And it seems like it will hold up well to repeated listens too.

Wolf City is the only one of theirs I've heard, but it's really very good. Trippy, fuzzy, folky, occasionally heavy prog-psych. I feel you'd like it. Their first five, Phallus Dei (1969), through Wolf City (1972) are generally really well-liked in the prog community.

It seems most fans think they lost their steam after Wolf City, though, and went on a crazy downward spiral into sterile fusion-esque music.

As for me, I got about halfway thru the new Metal Church on my headphones during my early morning dog-walk. Sounds badass thus far, Howe sounds like he never left.
