| Enter, young Ray Alder. Exit, old John Arch. This album caused a stir among the fans of the band, and I can see why. I used to prefer Alder overall, and while he indeed did pull off some pretty mean pipes on his first couple of albums with Fates Warning, I just had to accept that Jim Matheos' riffs only blend well with Arch's mystifying voice. So, here we have an album that's only got six songs, with one of them being a twenty-minute epic. Of them all, "Anarchy Divine" easily takes the cake, as it even sounds like it could've been used on Awaken the Guardian. "Silent Cries" comes second. A good album that's just too awkward of a transition. "The Ivory Gate of Dreams" and its corresponding segments should've been made into an EP. In fact, both sides easily just seem like two EPs combined into one full-length album. |

| "Anarchy Divine," I guess.
No Exit isn't a bad album by any means, but I could have done without that ridiculous 8-part song.

| I'll make two more Fates Warning polls, and then anyone else is free to continue them. |

| This album is a little more listenable than the others. Still not getting Fates Warning but looking forward to the next album because I hear it gets better.
I chose "In a Word." It has some catchy bits.

| This was my introduction into the band. I saw the video for "No Exit/Anarchy Divine" on Headbangers Ball and the next day I purchased the tape! | |
