That's a pretty decent ProgPop album. Desde La Vida is a really cool tune. This album used to get a lot of airplay on the Prog show because Robert Berry is a local guy.

Kamasi Washington - The Epic
It's a 2015 release, the debut album from saxophonist Kamasi Washington from Los Angeles. The reason it's called "The Epic" is because it's a 3-CD set clocking in at 2 hours, 53 minutes. It's one of the most impressive new jazz albums I've heard in a long stretch.

I finally broke down and put in TSO's Christmas Eve and Other Stories.
I really like the Christmas Eve/Sarajevo track. The foreboding nature of "Carol Of The Bells" has always made it my favorite Christmas song. And here it's combined with God Rest Ye Merry Gentlemen which also has kind of a downer vibe to it despite its lyrics.
So as I was running short errands today (like taking Tux to the vet again) I just kept playing that track. Most of the rest of the album is syrupy schlock to me but I really love the Sarajevo track.

That's one of the only versions of Carol of the Bells I like. I hate any version with lyrics.

I agree. I've always liked the instrumental versions much better. The lyrics just seem sort of shoehorned in there to fit the overall rhythm.
