Any news about this mighty power metal band? New album???
I totally enjoy their music. Was playing dragonslayer in my car earlier this morning.

Nothing? I thought these guys were popular around here!

They were popular around here when they were active. I think they're done these days. Nothing new in a while. I liked the albums, though.

I only know that song Book of Heavy Metal. I think Snowy Shaw played drums on that.
Great song.

The only one I have is Dragon Slayer and it's a disc I spin often. I keep trying to get more of their stuff but I never really see anything around. As far as any new happenings with these guys, I am in agreement with Shawn that they are probably done. I got Gus G's solo album a few weeks back and I am digging it but I suppose if he had new Dream Evil material and ideas he wouldn't have put effort into the solo album. Or...or, he got those solo album songs out of his system and it's now time to crush again with DE.

I have, and like, all their releases but the last one and that was released , what. five years ago? That's an awful long break between releases. I hope they can put out something new.

Gus G played for them.
So I just ordered The Book of Heavy Metal (2CD version?), and a two-for-one box of Dragonslayer and Evilized, for just under $30.

I wore Dragon Slayer and Book of Heavy Metal out. Both excellent albums.
Evilized was good, but did not get as much play ("Children of the Night" rules though). United was pretty fun, and that was the last album I bought. I did hear the last one on Spotify...I forget the name of it. It was decent enough, but I had just lost interest in power metal in general, so I never bought it.

In The Night was the name of their last one. I have yet to hear anything from it.

The only one missing from my collection is United. Those guys are very good. I would even go as far as saying that they are better than hammerfall.
now this is a comeback I am looking for.

Dream Evil will be releasing their first new album in seven years(!) on 5/26/17:
Swedish metallers Dream Evil have launched the first single and video from their sixth album, aptly titled SIX, due out on May 26th via Century Media Records.
Check out the album’s self-titled opening track “Dream Evil” in a clip by longtime partner in visuals Patric Ullaeus (In Flames, Lacuna Coil, Dimmu Borgir, Arch Enemy) below:
Dream Evil have checked in with the following comment about the self-titled track: “Many bands have a song that features the band’s name…but it’s actually hard to find a song you feel so directly confident with that it can ‘wear’ the band’s name. In our opinion the song ‘Dream Evil’ has this quality, so that’s also why it was the obvious choice for our first video of SIX. Enjoy!”
The cover artwork for the upcoming album was once again created by Gustavo Sazes (Arch Enemy, Amaranthe, Firewind).
SIX tracklisting is as follows: “Dream Evil” “Antidote” “Sin City” “Creature Of The Night” “Hellride” “Six Hundred And 66” “How To Start A War” “The Murdered Mind” “Too Loud” “44 Riders” ‘Broken Wings” “We Are Forever”
Next to the album’s standard version as CD and Digital Download, SIX is also being made available as 180gr. vinyl version with a poster and bonus CD as well as in the limited edition Mediabook CD format with two bonus tracks (“Under Attack” and “Nowhere To Run”) and three stickers.
Succeeding 2010’s In The Night release, SIX has been once again produced by Dream Evil guitarist Fredrik Nordström at his own Studio Fredman facilities, which is obviously the birth place of many modern metal masterpieces by bands such as In Flames, Arch Enemy, HammerFall, At The Gates, Dimmu Borgir, Powerwolf or also Architects and Bring Me The Horizon.
The first album trailer can be seen below.
In related news, May 26th will also mark the release date for the groundbreaking third Dream Evil album The Book Of Heavy Metal for the first time ever on vinyl. Considered a modern heavy metal classic by many, 2004’s The Book Of Heavy Metal will be available on 180 gr. black vinyl with the entire album on CD as bonus. Look out for pre-order details soon.

I don't know how much mileage I'd get with a Dream Evil album at this point, but I'm always willing to check them out based on the strength of the first few.
That said, that track is okay, but kinda weak for your first single in 7 years. A big chorus, yes, but given their proclivity for anthems, I was expecting something bigger. Also, it seems weird to do an eponymous song when your name is a reference to an existing song/album.

Somehow I've ended up buying their first 5 CDs.
Meh. Not my thing at all. They are almost like a joke band, it's so cheesy. I think I even prefer Hammerfall.
This is how I'd rank them:
1. Dragonslayer 3.0/5.0 - quite tolerable actually, plus the novelty factor 2. United 3.0/5.0 - less cheese than the others 3. The Book of Heavy Metal 2.5/5.0 - I like the title track... 4. Evilized 2.0/5.0 - pretty bad already 5. In the Night 1.5/5.0 - just makes me cringe, it's too much

I think their first 4 were very good. In the night was a bit mehhh.
As for the new single, i prefer to wait until the new album is out before deciding. Who knows, there may be a few solid tracks in there.

Decent song, but what the hell is up with that video? Very silly and bizarre.
