Heya friends and foes. If any of you are disappointed with the new Blind Guardian album and wish they would've delivered "Nightfall in Middle Earth II" instead, do not despair. The new Rocka Rollas album is coming and would satiate all your cravings and then some.
Coming out on Stormspell Records in Summer 2015 Here, have a taste:

Anyway, I was bopping around on CDBaby over the weekend for the first time in a while, when I randomly came across this one. Sounded pretty good so I just ordered it (as well as a couple of other Stormspell goodies).

Haven't heard anything from them since "A Twist in the Myth", liked that one. My favorite is "A Night at the Opera", nothing will ever top that!
This is from the upcoming album, last I heard he was putting the band on hold for a year or two to find a vocalist as he can sing but his voice won't hold-out for more than 2-3 songs and he really only wants to play guitar.

Did they change up their sound? Stormy's original embedded video doesn't work anymore but he mentioned Blind Guardian. The Rocka Rollas first album, The War of Steel Has Begun, was straight-up old school metal. They didn't get all symphonic and "mystical" did they? I got no time for that.

(shrugs) Dunno. The samples on CD Baby sounded like pretty straight up speedy Euro power metal stuff, for whatever that's worth.
Yea, I'd say it's changed a little. This is from their first album, which is more in the New Wave of Traditional Metal...
The one you posted sounds like they're going in a more 90's European power metal direction. Not sure that I'd care for that.

Think I was a bit confused on this thread, this is not Blind Guardian then...
Nope. Not a Blind Guardian thread. This is about the Rocka Rollas.

So this is the last BG lp that people were disappointed with, if so, why???
For what it's worth, I've never liked any Blind Guardian albums.

RR has evolved and changed a little, but nothing drastic and havent gone symphonic at all. The debut was straight-forward heavy/speed metal, while the latest albums are more in the Euro-Power vein (think of mid-era Blind Guardian for example).
The upcoming album would be very fast and relentless speed metal, whenever a suitable permanent vocalist is found (preferably someone who lives close to Sandviken and can attend rehearsals, play live shows, and be a full-time band member).
Until then we were going to release series of albums with unused old material Ced has in his vaults - mostly tunes similar to TWOSHB material. However, this may be put on hold too, as Ced is having ongoing problems with his voice.
Latest Blind Guaridan album was a huge let-down to me. An endless sympho-cacophony. I listened to it once and could not remember a single melody. And I'm saying this as a person whose favorite band was BG once (in the early 90s, up to IFTOS).
I've only heard bits & pieces of the R.R.'s till now, if I dig the CD I just ordered then I'll check out more of their stuff.
Thanks for the support Freddo, appreciated! If you decide to delve into RR further, pick "The War of Steel Has Begun", it is a re-press with new artwork and 5 bonus tracks, and it can be bought for only $5 through CDbaby's "$5 SALE" program!
It is out of stock currently, but I've send a big box with restocks today, so all titles should be available again in 3-4 days.
