Can't wait to hear what he does with Arch Enemy.

Nevermore by a longshot. I've never really been able to get totally into Sanctuary. His vocals are too over-the-top for me I think. Except on the new one of course.

This. I voted for Sanctuary.
I enjoy Nevermore and the songs have some solid, original construction. As I've always said, though, they're poorly mixed and wear me down by the halfway mark. Pure mud when cranked up, overkill on the Line 6-esque distortion. Still worth owning and listening to in spurts though.
I don't understand the third voting choice??

I think Painkiller was trying to say that the current Sanctuary is nothing more than Nevermore under a different name.

Love both bands. I really just see Nevermore as the next step from Into the Mirror Black and their latest Sanctuary release as the next logical step from the last Nevermore. I don't see how anyone can say Nevermore is "crap". The guitar work is jaw dropping at times. I can understand not liking their style, but to say it "crap" is sort of ridiculous. In fact, most people I've found who say that really haven't heard that much Nevermore.
It was Battle Angels that pulled me in and made me a Sanctuary fan back in the 80's. It was Seven Tongues of God that made me a Nevermore fan in the 90's.

Yes! "The Seven Tongues of God" is great. I was just listening to that earlier today.
It's really too bad that Dane's old project Serpent's Knight was never properly recorded. I wish those songs were more listenable.

Nevermore does a good job at what they do, but it's radically different from the first Sanctuary album. I'm not a fan of most groove metal, and I don't see much into Jeff Loomis' playing -- I'd even go to say that he's honestly a little overrated. He's not terrible, but he doesn't sound as great as many people make him out to be.
I just think that there's way better music out there for me to listen to. I follow the principle of not acknowledging music that I don't like.
I'd rather listen to the Nevermore from New York -- closer to my preference.

Jesus. You think Nevermore is groove metal?

Their later stuff definitely sounds like groove metal to me, but without being like Pantera or Machine Head. Still, there are also progressive metal elements. I'm really picky with progressive metal.

It was a few miles from where i live at a place called The City National Grove of Anaheim. I'm terrible at remembering set lists, but they pretty much covered all the popular songs from the past and also played a few from the new album. Less than a hundred people showed up, but the band still put on a good show.
