Kamelot

I just seen this band live a few weeks ago - and I have to say they did a fine job. My opinion of them really went up. I've always liked them, but seeing them live really made me love them.

Any fans here?

I've been a fan since "Karma" way back when.

I personally feel that their new one, "Ghost Opera" is their best effort.

Don't really like it...Not 'cuz of the musique but the vocals...

I'm not really impressed with them,but Hey if you like em,more power to ya.

I like them. They could be better though.

I think their new one is lame. This is the 1st I had heard them though. Is all their previous stuff like their new one?

Well, personally I feel their new one is their best. And yes, they have not really diverted from their early stuff. It is a lot more raw naturally, however. But all in all their sound is very solid. They are not a band to switch styles quickly, yet they do introduce new elements in each album.

I like their first four. Melodic progressive metal, and well crafted. I haven't heard their recent albums.

I discovered Kamelot some weeks ago and purchased immediately 3 albums: Karma, Black Halo and One Cold Winter’s Night. The next one I’m looking forward to is Ghost Opera.

Blackieboy, you’re lucky that you saw them live. I want to see them as well.

I think they're a great band, I've been a fan of them since I heard The Black Halo. I've only heard the single off the new album and I like it - still need to properly check out the album though. They're a fantastic live band, I caught them at this year's ProgPower UK and they blew me away.

Pretty hit or miss with me. I loved the last one, but the new one bores me a little.

My least favorite album from them is "Epica". That one bored me a bit. But ... I still do like it though.

I'd rank the albums that I've purchased as such:

1. Ghost Opera
2. Karma
3. The Black Halo
4. Epica

those are the only ones I've owned.

I have the newest Kamelot and it just seems a bit light-weight and fluffy to me. Lots of keyboards, orchestration, etc., but light on the metal. Kamelot in general just don't seem to do much for me, although I love Roy Khan's voice, especially in Conception.

I will eventually review the CD once I've lived with it a while. Every once in a while I pull it out and give it another spin. It's just not doing it for me. I should have went to see the live as well. That might have made me appreciate the CD more.

I bought THE FOURTH LEGACY (I think that was the name of it? It had a picture of a hot chick with her back to the viewer, holding a sword aloft on the front cover) years back when it was a new release, didn't think much of it. Too much orchestration and not enough metal. Haven't bothered to check back in with Kamelot since then
