I was listening to sports talk on the radio today and they were discussing the popularity of soccer in the US/North America and that a lot of the teams are drawing in capacity crowds. So I looked up the numbers and I gotta say, I was surprised. The Seattle Sounders are at over 100% capacity and draw in close to 41,000 people per game, almost twice as many as the Seattle Mariners do. Philadelphia, Portland, Salt Lake City, San Jose, Kansas City, Toronto, and Vancouver are at or over 100% capacity. Sure, most of the stadiums seat about 20,000 or so people at full capacity and they only play about 16 games at home, but I think the statistics say a lot about soccer here in North America.
