I retired from my job on March 1st. Took me awhile to realize that I would get to keep my work email account though, so I haven't posted for awhile. I am still here though.
Being on a limited income now, I'm gonna not buy too much recent music. I have enoungh old music to keep me happy. I'll buy new music only very selectively. My friend says that the old stuff is the good stuff; not exactly sure if I agree with that 100%, but  I see what he means. (F the dumb S---)!.
I ain't dead yet though. I plan on working part time for several years yet. And I still listen to Metal.

Here ya.
Sorry to hear the news.

There is still a LOT of music in all of our collections (or in our family's) we have not really played enough.
No sin in enjoying the music of your childhood and youth again,
and yes,
I am one of the few (if only punk-metal type dudes) here that recommend downloading anything and everything you can.
Get it, if you want it,
as i think the internet can be shut down overnight,
and you might lose your chance of getting anything for free after we all are on the breadline.

Enjoy retirement. Wish I could retire when I am 55 but I just don't see that happening, considering about every 8 years we have another kid. Our youngest is 4 and looks like she is the last so I'm gonna be a working dad for a long time to come.

Congrats, and now is exactly the time to play all those albums you always wished you had more time to get into.

Why would your email address matter? Set up a Gmail, MSN or Yahoo account in case your work email gets closed.

Wow, I wish I could retire at 55 too!   I'll probably retire in about 10 years then end up working at Sam's club or the local grocery store chain just for the benefits and to keep myself from going stir crazy sitting at home.

Congrats SAHB!

I was drinking when I made my post yesterday.
Somehow I had the impression that SAHB Healer was forced into retirement.

Just a guess, but maybe his my work email account holds many of his contacts, and is also connected to this forum ?

Congrats SAHB!

I'd like to retire period! Even if I manage to remain at Amazon until I'm able to collect my 401K (who actually stays with a job for over 20 years these days?), I will probably be close to 70. Hopefully, I won't still have all my debt and will at least be somewhere in management because as a regular employee, my pay caps out at $12.75. Currently, I make just enough money to stay in debt (without going further into it).

Anyway, enough about my pathetic life (Very Happy). Congrats SAHB! Enjoy early retirement and try not to get too bored.

After my Dad retired at 65, soon after they asked him back.
He didn't mind and did it for another year or two, as the paycheque was good.
Why was he asked back?
The younger employees could not be trusted and were not knowledgeable enough
(for example, they would throw actual wrenches into machinery to shut down production, so they could go to the bar across the street,as they didn't like to work).

Best I had was 13 at my former job but lost that one as they were closing down in the area and concentrating on the main place in Philadelphia.

Congrats on your retirement. Don't go stir-crazy with all your free time.  insane

Oh, it's not impossible. However, statistically it doesn't happen much anymore. Also times are a changing and the future of our country's economy is bleak. Amazon says they don't want to lay off employees, but they may not have a choice latter down the road. Also my recent track record with jobs always has me worried I might screw something up. Not saying I don't have hope for the future, but I can't help but be a tad pessimistic. However, I try not to think that far ahead. It's best for me to concentrate on the here and now, tomorrow is future me's problem Very Happy.

I have been at my employer for 10 years now and will probably retire here. We just had a guy retire after 46 years! FORTY SIX! Most people retire from here after 30+ years. I'd like to get another 25 years here. I have a good Union job at a paper mill. I'll stay here as long as it is open. It's been here since 1931. We also have no pay caps. Say what you will about Unions but they get us raises every year and protect our jobs and vacation time & pay. I love working at a Union facility.

Exactly. I did get a new tablet for home, but for some reason it only lets me post using the "classic" HOM mode. Not sure why that is.

Life was kind of hectic the last few years, and consequently I wasn't able to keep my music collection sorted. I'm putting it back in order now and am finding a bunch of stuff that I didn't know I had, or had forgotten about. Fun to listen to!
