The're very un-melodic and I really thought they needed better. However, it eventually grew on me but I understand why others can't get past it.
Yeah they're an acquired taste. Personally , I like them.

I quite often find myself liking bands whose vocalists are an aquired taste. Axxis, Accept, Alestorm, Motorhead, etc. Now, if those said band's music wasn't very good, I doubt I'd aquire a taste.

Funny you mention Motorhead. When I try to describe the vocals of Grave Digger, I use Motorhead as the example since just about everyone has heard at least 1 song of their's.

It's funny, I wasn't even going to include Motorhead in my list, I just needed a band that didn't start wit 'A'. I was initially going to say Anvil.

Love Grave Digger and the new art and clip sounds excellent. My favorite era will always be:
1993 The Reaper 1995 Heart of Darkness 1996 Tunes of War 1998 Knights of the Cross

I do think "Ballads of a Hangman" is a great newer record for people who want to avoid the Middle Ages stuff. I mean you've got full on heavy power like the title track and then throwback stuff like "Stormrider", and then crushing mid-paced songs full of attitude, like "Grave Of The Addicted". It's not a conceptual one.

I admire these guys for releasing a new album like clockwork but I couldn't get into this band when I tried Ballads of a Hangman and The Clans Will Rise Again. Both of those albums sound the same to me and didn't have anything memorable.
They always have great album covers though.
Check out TUNES OF WAR, EXCALIBUR and KNIGHTS OF THE CROSS. Just amazing releases.
Will do. I'm open to giving them another shot as long as it doesn't sound similar to their recent releases.
No, this records i told you about has better songs. They are just better then BALLADS OF A HANGMAN or THE CLANS WILL RISE AGAIN. I own them but they are boring imo.

I think the Clans will Rise Again is pretty good. I agree Ballads was not all the much fun but Clans is quite enjoyable.

Online right? I've NEVER seen a Grave Digger album in a Best Buy. Even back when they had a bigger CD selection.

Probably. It's just a pre-order right now. But you're right, any decent metal albums (besides the more mainstream acts like Judas Priest) only are sold online.

I'm listening to this now, and it sounds great. I've never been too into this band in the past because of the vocals, but they don't bother me at all on this album. I'll have to revisit their previous material, as I don't think the vocals are much different here--just my changing tastes.
There are a few weak choruses to my ear, but the killer riffs carry all the songs quite well.
