I wonder if you can get this on DVD such a great full length concert with Iron maiden, Judas priest, Ozzy Osbourne, Def leppard, Quiet Riot, MSG, Krokus and Scorpions.
I wish I was there

I have this concert on bootleg, it must have been broadcast somewhere in the world. I know Iron Maiden released some of this show on one of their archival DVD's, and I believe in the commentaries they made mention that the film has been destroyed.

Yep.... Also the show that they "killed" Eddie on stage (that part is on the video clips), which lead into the next studio album, Powerslave.

The other "best" metal concert of 1983 was in So. California on Memorial Day Weekend.
Quiet Riot, Motley Crue, Ozzy (first show w/Jake),Judas Priest. Triumph, Scorpions, and Van Halen

Were you there ? The vibe of a 1/4 million headbangers seems to make the experience vary from one to another. Vince has always sounded bad
The audio from the earlier bands in the videos are taken from stage source (monitors) and not PA. Wasn't dialed in till half way through Ozzy's set.

What I've seen of the US festival makes me jealous that I was too young to attend (let alone use the toilet properly). Priest, Triumph, Scorps, and VH all kicked ass that day.

Ah yes, Heavy Metal day at the US Festival. I remember watching it on Showtime (although I believe it wasn't the whole show) and my buddy taped it on vhs and onto cassette so we could take it with us to listen.

US Festival still comes on from time to time on VH1 Classic. I have a boot DVD of metal day, very cool stuff.

From my understanding, the bootleg DVD's and cable channel broadcasts are partial sets from the bands.
Quiet Riot came on at 10 am (or so) and Van Halen (ended early) shortly after 1 am, if memory serves me correct. It was only 15 minutes between bands (somewhat)
My home where I grew up was up in the canyon behind the stage about half way up. Follow the ridge line that looks like one of these <

Yeah the boot I have is not complete. I know Triumph released an offical US Festival DVD and CD. Quiet Riot has an US Fest CD.

I doubt Van Halen ever will simply because the performance so ramshackled. David Lee Roth is drunk, misses vocal ques, talks too much and overall not an impressive performance. I am sure if you were there, it would have been a blast, watching at home, with bootleg DVD of the full performance, not so much.
James is right the bootleg version of the US Festival is just a partial performance of all the bands that day, taken directly from HBO's rebroadcast of the event.
So far only Quiet Riot, Judas Priest (on their special edition of Screaming for Vengeance' ) and Triumph have officially released their US Festival performances.

Great festivals you guys are talking about. Also you had some cool ones in Europe and the UK that year. Great year for our music of course. The good thing is that our music is timeless and still sounds great today, in 2014.

I was in high school when Iron Maiden and Priest were touring together for Number of the Beast/Screaming for Vengeance (1982). They played at the Spectrum in Philadelphia in October 1982, only a half hour drive straight down the freeway. Man what a show that would have been. Unfortunately I was not old enough to drive myself and despite my begging my parents, I was not allowed to go even with others who were driving. I've seen both bands many, many times since then, but that tour is legendary.
I did get to see my first big concert that next year, Aerosmith & Pat Travers, Feb. 14, 1983 at the Philadelphia Spectrum.

I know I'm probably repeating myself but..
I was backstage :)The neighbor of my girlfriend worked for Apple & won tickets but did not want to go so she gave us the tickets / laminate's for all three days.
She went to the country US Festival the following weekend. I guess only 50,000 showed up for that day. Woz was into country music.
