It's been kind of a while since Fu Manchu's last delivery, 2009's Signs of Infinite Power. But Scott Hill and company are saddling up for their eleventh studio album -- Gigantoid, which will be self-released on the band's At the Dojo Records on April 29. (That's the cover art below.)
Get an early taste via "Anxiety Reducer," the first single from Gigantoid, which makes its premiere in this post. Unsurprisingly, it's vintage Fu -- this particular example hangs out in a Led Zep pocket, but the superfuzzed guitars and Hill's cockeyed vocals provide the post-rip glow that the band have built their career upon.

Really looking forward to this. In fact, that cover gives me a raging hard-on.

You and I are the only ones apparently.

It would get more love on this board if Fu Manchu hired that Strapping Young Lad guy or an ex-member of Queensryche.
I saw Fu Manchu open for Anthrax in around 2001 or so. They were fun as hell. Of course, I am ok with any band that plasters classic Tony Alva on their record cover.
I've been a bit out of the Fu Manchu loop for a while. I think the last disc I picked up of theirs was "We Must Obey" (which has a killer cover of a Cars tune).
I guess over the years I've seen 'em about 20 times or so mostly as either an opener or part of a twin bill. I haven't sampled any of the other tracks from this album but the one above sounds about par for the Fu Manchu course. I like it but it doesn't sound like one of their better tunes to me. I've had a couple of their albums sneak up on me when I heard a track from it early and thought meh but the rest of the album just grabbed me. Most notably "Start the Machine" which had a track or two I was kinda so-so on at first but now it's a favorite of mine.
