This was the one that made me think Rush was returning to the sound I loved from their earlier days. I used to list Rush as one of my favorite bands but then they started releasing albums like Farewell To Kings and Permanent Waves and they just got too prog for me. Then Moving Pictures came out and I thought, "They're back!" From the admittedly overplayed "Tom Sawyer" to "Red Barchetta" to "YYZ" and "Limelight", I was so psyched.
Sadly they went even more prog after that album and I completely gave up on them. But I still spin "Fly By Night", "2112" and "Moving Pictures" regularly.

I disagree they became "more prog", they just added more keyboards. Personally I love Signals just as much as Moving Pictures, I almost always listen to them back to back.

I actually agree with you on the keyboards; I've always said that's what ruined Rush for me. I think the prevalence of the keys is what I despise about latter day and current Rush.
I'm not against keys per se but they just don't fit well with what I associate with Rush.

I guess you didn't notice they have barely used any keyboards on their past 3 albums.
There are no keyboards on Vapor Trails at all, Snakes & Arrows and Clockwork Angels have occasional keyboards for coloration but not anywhere near the amount used on Moving Pictures.

To be honest, I never even gave those albums a shot. Like I said, I gave up on Rush after Moving Pictures.

I won't, SD. I'm gonna jam 'Sabotage' next in order to create a diversion.
You are welcome, Boris!
