So this year is the 30th anniversary of Purple Rain, so as expected there will be a 30 year mega tour and reissue of one of the biggest selling records of all time (a staggering 13 million copies) right?
Wrong, Prince has decided to spend a good portion of this year in London working on the 3rd Eye Girl album and playing small shows (apart from the possibility of a headlining spot at Glastonbury which is strongly rumoured but unconfirmed) which he plans to charge the astronomical price of about $10 a ticket.
It's nice to see a guy who has achieved everything that he has getting excited at starting a new band and building it up from humble beginnings and the early signs sound great from this band. I'm biased because I'm a big fan but I think his new band have an awesome sound
There's only old songs posted so far but I'm loving what I hear. I know that there won't be a lot of fans on here but I thought that there might be a few (I've read the old thread and know that Toho is a big fan )

He's a real good guitarist. I don't always like his music or singing though.

I actually respect Prince as an artist and I do like some of his tunes. I definitely wouldn't call myself a fan though.

He's a total Froot Loop, but a talented Froot Loop. I liked the "Purple Rain" movie back in the day, but it's been years since I've seen it.

I'm pretty indifferent to the guy. I don't mind his music that much (and I only know what was played on the radio) but wouldn't consider myself a fan.

I have 14 Prince CD's and one still on vinyl. I was a huge fan back in the day, still am a fan but I admit it has been awhile since I have spun one of his albums

Not a fan, but they guy is talented.... and influential, you just need to have watched the Super Bowl half time show - it's pretty obvious that Bruno Mars' favorite flick growing up was Purple Rain

Same here. Never owned anything, but I've been partied like it was 1999 on occasion. Little guy's a helluva guitar player too.

Around The World In A Day and Sign O The Times are classics in my book. I also really dig his work on those first two Sheila E records.
That Prince/Charlie Murphy skit is the funniest thing I've seen on tv in the last 20 years. How has Charlie Murphy not ended up with his own show after Chappelle bailed?

Probably my favorite two as well, but I like a lot of them. I'm just really interested in the new record as it sounds as though he's moving into a pretty guitar orientated heavier/funkier sphere that will hopefully show of his geetar skills.

I'm not much into 'Around The World In A Day' and also not into a lot of his post-Purple Rain until 'Come' and his name change albums are good as well.
Anything from 'For You' to 'Purple Rain' is where it's at for me.

I'd consider myself a fan. Probably a good 15 discs in my collection of his and still missing a grip. Quite enjoyed Diamonds & Pearls, but there are not many discs/songs that I don't like from him...
Did you all catch him on New Girl after the Superbowl? Some really funny stuff making/confirming what we already knew about Prince and his super powers.

I've heard he wants to do an album of all Hendrix covers, that would be interesting.
