| I'm going to the beach on vacation next week and Tesla is playing at the House of Blues one of the nights I'm there. I can't say I've ever heard much Tesla so I thought I'd ask if y'all think it'd be a good show to go to or not.

| Absolutely!! I've seen them 3 times. Once as an opener, one headlining and lastly, all acoustic. Great band. Stage show is simple (no frills), they just focus on playing good rock n roll. The guys honestly look like they're enjoying what they do and it shows. Go Go Go!!

| Absolutely! They are a tight band and put on a great performance. Be sure and use your ticket stub to go up to the merch booth and get your free "Reel to Reel II" CD.
They are playing some fantastic covers on this tour. When I saw them, they opened up with UFO's "Rock Bottom". Fan-freakin-tastic! _________________ ULTIMATUM - TOO METAL FOR WIKIPEDIA!

| Cool, I'll see if I can swing it then. Especially since we'll have plenty of family with us to watch after our little boy that night. | |

| Ok, so I went to see Tesla last Monday night at the House of Blues at Myrtle Beach.
There were 3 bands:
First up was Eve to Adam or something like that. They were ultra generic modern rock from New York. Boring is the word that comes to mind.
Next was a group called Poets and Pornstars. My cousin and I had no idea what to expect with a name like that and neither of us not having heard of them before, so we expected the worse. Gladly we were very surprised at how good this band was. The singer was fantastic. They had a sleazy classic rock/metal vibe to them that was really cool. They also did a killer cover of "House Of the Rising Sun" that was just awesome and true to the greatness of the original. The only downside to this band was all the F-bombs the singer was dropping between songs. "South Fing Carolina!!" "This song is about F-ing!!!" This one is about F-ing someone up!!" Yadda yadda yadda. Shame really but lame enough to keep me from buying their album, cuz I really thought they ruled musically that night.
Tesla was up next. I only knew about 1 Tesla song going into this that night and it had been years since heard anything by this band. Anyway, musically they ruled! But the "singer" was horrid. He totally ruined just about all the songs. I dunno if he had an off night or what, but he just sounded terrible. Kinda like if Elmo had a sore throat. The dude just sounded terrible and strained most of the night. The few times he would just relax and not try to over-do it, he sounded fine, but he just kept high pitch gravel mouth Sesame Street sound for the vast majority. But like I said, the instruments and actual music portions of their set were fantastic and they played up to it with lots of solos and jams.
We also turned in our ticket as the merch booth and was given Disc 2 of the new Real to Reel album. Just a single disc in an empty jewel case full of cover songs. I listened to it on the way home yesterday and the singer sounded good on all but 2 of the songs on it. He sucked up an Aerosmith song and Black Sabbath's War Pigs. He really butchered War Pigs. But the other songs sounded good. Which made me think maaaaybe he had and off night. I dunno though since he still sucked up those two songs in studio.
Did they have another singer at one time earlier in their career? | |

| Nope. Same singer they have always had. Gravely, bluesy, whiskey soaked voice. I saw them. He sounded great. That was months ago. They've been touring constantly since then. I can imagine he's probably pretty tore up with all the touring. _________________ ULTIMATUM - TOO METAL FOR WIKIPEDIA!

| Sounds like you heard Jeff being Jeff. He's got a great voice, but maybe a live setting isn't the best place for you first Tesla experience? And I think he sounds great on the Aerosmith and Sabbath tune. Also, don't let the singer of Poets & Pornstars keep you from buying the CD. The album is profanity-laced. |

The album IS or ISN'T profanity laced? Dammit! I hate the contraction. IS NOT! |
