Mercenary from Denmark

Is anyone familiar with this band? I thought they were part of the Swedish-melodic-death metal scene, but the new song clip I heard sounded more like a progressive metal band with clean, melodic vocals. Am I confusing 2 different bands or did they change their sound / vocalist?

After "first breath" they added a new full time vocalsit to the fold and went to a progressive/death/thrashy vein of metal.

After the album "11 Dreams" the bass player quit the band. He was the guy who did the death vocals. The next album basically only had the other guy with a few guest spots here and there, but nothing substantial in the death metal vocal camp. But they've since added a new bass player who is reported to be able to the death vocals to.

I could care less cuz the main clean singer is AWESOME!!!!! That dude can scream with the best of them as well as carry a tune. Their last 3 albums are absolute masterpieces if you ask me. Especially "11 Dreams".

They have been one of my favorite bands for the last few years. I'm surprised no one else is chiming in on them.

This pretty much says it all for me, too. I've not heard anything else, but these three are killer.

Being from Denmark (well...partly), I discovered these guys on one of several danish metal sites. I have followed them since day one, and I must say that everything past their first album is awesome. The first album is decent as well, but the vocals destroyed most of it.

That was my only problem with the last album. A lot of the vocal melodies sounded to similar. Its still a KILLER album though. I'm really looking forward to the upcoming album too.

I first heard them off my Century Media sample cd and i deffinately like the title track 11 Dreams. Kinda like Sentenced but more melodic.
