TOWNES VAN ZANDT

I post this only because I know i m not the only ecclectically minded music fan here...and I know others here wh appreciate the finer side of old school folk/country music....

I had all but forgotten about this feller until i happened upon a depresing documentary on him on Sundance the other day....

familiar story: Songwriting genius plagued with mental problems....later coupled with drinking problems and the end is the all too standard cda of an early death....

Alot like TOM WAITS alot of people have never heard of TOWNES but probably know at least 3 of his songs....

one of the most famous being "Pancho & Lefty" made famous by WILLIE NELSON and MERLE HAGGARD...

Anyway....if your tastes lean aywhere near the pastures growing wild with artists like WILLIE NELSON, MERLE HAGGRD, KRIS KRISTOFFERSON, TOM WAITS, SPPRINGSTEEN, STEVE EARLE or even RAY LAMONTAGNE...

Not my style of music at all. I've tried and tried and tried. Maybe in another 10 years. 5 years ago I couldn't stand prog-rock, now I love it. So who knows.

Have you ever heard of the band I Can Lick Any Sonofabitch In The House? They're like sleaze meets country. You should dig them. I put two songs on a comp I sent you.

Never heard them but that's a cool name for such a band....
