What would you have done?

Im not a violent person and I usually stay away from confrontation as it usually leads to something that shouldn't of happened, happening. This MOM was way out of line IMO... The skateboarder is skating and an unsupervised kid is in the wrong place at the wrong time. The guy kindly says "are you alright dude" and shows sympathy for the accident.

Here comes the mom running up and not knowing what happened PUNCHES this dude right in the face.. I've spent over 6 yrs of my life training in MMA and self defense classes and we are taught never to put your hands on someone unless they put theirs on yours first. Now, we all know not to hit women, but where is the line drawn?

If she would of hit me like that.. I would of did either...

A. Laughed at her and said "I apologized and asked if he was ok"
B. Spit in her face (If I was a teenager this would of prolly happened)
C. Would of gave her one of my arrogant sarcastic responses like "Wow, look at you mommy hitting someone in front of your child, who you weren't watching.. Congrats on THE BIGGEST DIPSHIT MOM OF THE YEAR AWARD"

It was her son. Obviously she over-reacted, but mothers are ultra-protective. Just take it for what it is and try not to hit kids while skateboarding. And the kid probably learned to look out.

Can't say much from that video... maybe the skateboarder did punch back. Assuming not, but still... the kid could have been concussed or worse for all we know.

I have a child and I would never act like that. Granted Im not a mom.. Punching someone in the face is never the answer to anything.. If he wanted, he prolly could of pressed charges. If your first reaction is like the way she handled things, that guy is lucky she wasnt packing...

She was out of order, but mums are protective and she flared up. If it was me I'd have let her have her moment and then gone home and called her every name under the sun.  

I'm not surprised... She looks ghetto and is probably a domestic violence kind of chick.

Pretty good looking punch though. Glad I wasn't the target. Can you imagine getting coldcocked by a woman?

I've got a sailor mouth and I'd be putting it to major practice.

I was kicked in the nuts by a girl when I was a teenager.. I think maybe 15.. I punched her right in the face  

I would never do that now but she touched my jewels hahah!!!

how do you figure the kid is unsupervised? The mom was right there and saw what happened.

I dont feel bad for the skater. Running over little children because not paying attention is pretty bad. I am not sure i would have punched him though...

It took her over 20 secs to walk from that building.. You can see her in the distance.. She was nowhere near her son and it's supposedly his birthday..

So an unsupervised 4yr old if that is wondering around without his mom in a highly populated park and it's the skaters fault? Sure this could of been avoided but he apologized, showed a ton of concern, and still got punched in the face?

and LOL @ running him over, he collided with him and the kid was obviously fine. The mom should be fined for her actions.. I feel sorry for the little boy because if shes that quick to hit a stranger, shes prolly wailing on her kids  

Mom had every right to be mad, even though it was a sheer accident that was out of the skater's hands.

I'm surprised there's accusations of not looking where he's going but the obvious thing is the kid runs at him in a blind spot. The skater is not to fault here; it was pure accident.

That said, again, the mother had no idea what happened and had every right to start interrogation. Punching him? Stupid.

The mom was too far away to protect her son from stuff like that.

The problem I see with this video is that by taking matters into her own hands, punching the skater, there is a likelihood that the local department of child affairs (whatever it may be called over there) may take action against the mother and seek to interview her on her parenting habits and investigate how this child is actually being looked after.

The mother wasn't supervising the child - she was somewhere far into the distance. That is strike one. Of course you have to be reasonable and kids will be all over the place but we assume that when the mother got there she saw there were much older boys / teenagers on skateboards. As a responsible parent with your child's safety in mind you would continually assess the environment and ask the question - is it safe for my child to roam around unsupervised?

The child doesn't look like he's older than 5 years. So we're talking about a small child that is nowhere near being independent and cannot yet make any decisions. Still very much dependent upon the parent being there.

As most of you noticed, the mother is nowhere in sight. She arrives at the scene almost 20 seconds later!

Strike two is how she reacted. Punching people because she is unable to supervise her child will not aid her case at all. Not only is she acting in a criminal manner but she is damaging her own character by assaulting others. Sure you get angry but whatever you do, do not retaliate. You only do more damage to yourself and ultimately the child if the state thinks you are a bad parent and shouldn't be near the child!

What took place here was clearly an accident on the skater's behalf. Nothing premeditated. If there were real concerns about the child following the accident call the authorities. Call an ambulance, take him to the doctors, take the skater's details if the police should be involved. The dude looked like he wanted to co-operate too and he was way more concerned than the mother!

But the question is what would I have done? I would have probably turned the other cheek and taken another punch because the last thing I would want is to do more damage.

The mom was out of line. The skater dude was concerned about the kid and hung around to make sure all was okay. And never retaliate in those kind of situations. You'll only make matters worse.

I'd have knocked her teeth out. If a woman wishes to act all macho, then I'll treat her accordingly.

Women have been fighting to be man's equal for decades, so the rule "never hit a woman (in any circumstance)" shouldn't apply anymore.

EDIT: as an afterthought, the rule should be "don't hit anybody unless it's out of self-defense."

Some women like to hide behind the rule that a man can't hit back, even if they attack you... That's bullsh*t.

This guy makes sense to me, but the main point is that no matter how much a woman might provoke things and however equal women are in a holistic sense, they are not equal physically, not even close. Pound for pound women have 50-60% of the upper body strength of a man. Couple that with the fact that guys tend to be heavier (Rob, by the look of his avatar is built like a truck!) and it's pretty easy to see the flaw in the 'If she wants to be equal, I'll smash her teeth in!!' argument.

The fact is that pretty much any man could beat seven bells out of any woman (there are exceptions on the extremes of the scale) but that's exactly the reason that you don't do it, the fact is that this woman was no real threat and didn't hurt anything other than his pride. Was she right to do it? Hell no! But violence against someone who poses no threat to my safety is a big no no in my book (I also make a point of not beating up children and puppies)

But yeah, I have been in situations with girls when I have wished that it could be a fair fight because I was THAT angry (and I'm not violent, at all) so I get what the guy is saying about reasons.

I think any man should do their best not to ever hit a woman. But the whole "never hit a woman" thing is stupid.

That mother in the clip should have been watching her child. She wasn't. That is clear by just how long it took her to show up. You let your kid run around like that unsupervised, and bad things are bound to happen. For her to come up and assault the guy changes the goddamn rules. He should have blasted her ass, physically stronger or not.

She's also not watching her kid while Apollo Creeding the skater.

You should never attack, unprovoked, anyone weaker than you. However, no matter how much larger you are than someone else...perhaps the other person should just learn to shut their trap. Deliberately provoking someone into violence gets you what you deserve. I've put many a hurt (and many has been put on me) as a result of running that mouth. The internet has encouraged people to believe that their opinion weighs more than it actually does. STFU & live longer.

Also, If you hit someone...anyone. Expect to get hit back. Fail safe general rule to follow.

I am not so sure I would call that a women
