Favorite of the original Super Mario Bros. series?

I would say I like the third one the best.

I still have my old NES with four working controllers. I haven't plugged it in in years, but it's good to have around because it was so awesome.

I love the first and the third Mario games. The second one never appealed to me. My earliest home video game memories are from playing the first Mario, but I still have to go with Mario 3. A deeper game with still the original controls intact. Just adding to it. Real nice level design, character designs, graphics, music, difficulty level, everything.

The only one I owned was Super Mario Bros. 3... I loved it, but I sucked at it!! I never came anywhere close to completing it.

I beat it, many many times. A decent challenge, but not the hardest video game ever by any means. Back then I had way more time though....

I had 1 and 3 at different times. 3 was my favorite. Haven't played it since the early 90s.

The freakin' root picking in Super Mario Bros 2, that shit put me off. Just so out of character for Mario. Just about the only good thing in the game was the variety in playable characters.

3 for me. I always thought 2 was pretty cool with the different style of game as compared to the first. The completion of 2 was a bit of a bummer though (it was all a dream?). I havent played any of those games in a long time (and we still have those games and the system)

That was because Super Mario Bros. 2 was a revision of a Japanese game called Doki Doki Panic.

In Japan, Super Mario Bros. 2 was actually more or less a remake of the original Super Mario Bros. with increased difficulty. Nintendo of America thought it was too difficult, and revised Doki Doki Panic into Super Mario Bros. 2 for American audiences. That's why Super Mario Bros. 2 is so different from the other Super Mario Bros. games.

The American Super Mario Bros. 2 was released as Super Mario USA in Japan. The Japanese version of Super Mario Bros. 2 was included as a part of Super Mario All Stars for the SNES in 1993, being titled Super Mario Bros.: The Lost Levels.

Loved all 3, but 3 had something special.

I love all three and it's REALLY close between SMB2 and SMB3. I guess I'll go with SMB3.

I liked all of them....but I probably liked 2 better than 3.

I've been revisiting 3 lately and it's so much fun that it's making my heart skip. My first NES was the one that came packaged with Mario 3, so that was my big introduction into the world of Nintendo. The first two IMO are just as good, but I was so obsessed with 3 that I even eventually had Game Genie codes memorized for certain things. My achieving moment was when I played the whole game front to back, no whistles, every stage cleared, and defeated the second secret Bowser. I still have it on VHS somewhere. In short, the greatest video game ever made.

I grew up with all three, my parents bought a used NES sometime in the early 90s for me at a garage sale in my neighborhood for like 5 bucks. I would say my favorate is 3 though, fondest memories with that one. I remember being no older then like 5 running through bowser castles with my dad telling me not to get squashed by the f*cking blueberrys. He meant the whomps that fall from the ceiling occasionally..ha.

I have to roll with 3 because it's the one that got the most play from me as a kid AND I even managed to beat it a time or two (World 8 destroyed my soul and caused many a thrown controller back in the day).

Also, lest we forget, those graphics and sound effects were killer l33t and hi-tech back in the day!

Oh yeah, and half of the background music consists of total ear worms!

I sucked royally at the first one so it's a toss up between 2 & 3. I'll go with 2 just because it seems so lonely up there.

The second game was very "Holy crap, what is this madness?" as a kid. Also, I sucked harder than a hyperactive cyclone at it as a kid. I should probably try to vindicate myself with my advanced hand/eye coordination now...

Love Super Mario and def love 3 the most! Super Mario WOrld is probably my fav out of the franchise!
