| What are some decent mobster movies? Also, why do you recommend them? I'm in love with reading/watching anything that has to do with organized crime/the Mafia.
My favorite mob movie is definitely Goodfellas. Wiseguy (the book the movie was made after) is also my favorite book. Just the fact that everything about that movie/book actually happened is so shocking and thrilling. It's hard not to be amazed by the things that people can actually accomplish. The life of Henry Hill sure did make one hell of a book/movie.
I've seen the Sopranos only once and I loved it - just never got into watching it. I just recently got HBO at my house so I'm definitely going to activate HBO Go and watch the whole series over my next school year.

| The godfather for me. The acting, directing, and writing are perfect. One of the best films ever made. A lot of people like the second one as much or more than the first, but in my mind you just can't beat the original. | |

| The first two "Godfather" films are pretty much the Alpha and Omega of the gangster-flick genre in my book. "GoodFellas" is also up there, as is "Casino" and Al Pacino's "Scarface." All great flicks - I prefer Goodfellas over Godfather actually (and let's just forget that Godfather 3 was ever released....) Sopranos was a fantastic show | |

| Casino!! This film really needs to step out of Goodfellas shadow (although I'll reluctantly admit to knowing why it's in it) | |

| Donnie Brasco (Al Pacino, Johnnie Depp) The Untouchables Carlito's Way (Al Pacino) Mean Streets (a must-see of Scorsese's, although not entirely mob-related. Harvey Keitel's finest performance.) The Departed Once Upon a Time in America (Sergio Leone with Robert De Niro, about four hours long and feels like two) King of New York (Christopher Walken)
Of course you have classics like Angels With Dirty Faces.
Godfather II is the greatest of them all, though.

| When I saw The Godfather, I honestly wasn't a fan of it. That was when I was younger and didn't appreciate the gangster movies. I have to revisit it.

Don't listen to the crazy people. The first godfather is definitely better than the second.

Don't listen to the crazy people. The first godfather is definitely better than the second. Actually, Coppola always wanted the first two to be considered a whole. I need to see both in the same run. The third one was a huge rock-like turd. Overkill on plotting and all the human brushstrokes of the first two are thrown out. Add to that Sophia's awkward non-acting...

| Love the Cohen Bros. Miller's Crossing.
There was an 80's tv series called Wiseguy that is one of my all time favorite shows.

Sometimes I think I'm the only person in New Jersey who's never seen a single episode of "The Sopranos." ... I did used to hang out at the go-go bar (Satin Dolls in Lodi, NJ) that they used for the "Bada Bing" club on the show, though. _________________ "If you're a false, don't entry, because you'll be burned and died!"

I'm from NJ and I've only seen one episode before. I just never had an interest in sitting down to watch the series. I'm not a huge TV guy, but I'll watch movies occasionally

Where in Jersey are you from? Back when the show was first blowing up huge, I didn't have cable in the apartment I was living in, hence no HBO. By the time I moved into a new place and got cable, the show had been on for a few years already and I saw no point in walking into it in the middle, so to speak. _________________ "If you're a false, don't entry, because you'll be burned and died!"

I'm a year round resident of Normandy Beach. It's on the same island as Seaside Heights, but it's the opposite of that hell hole.

| Not really "mafia" per se, but about organized crime gone wrong, Tarantino's Reservoir Dogs is a great movie. | |
