What are your thoughts on Smith's output between Maiden and Dickinson? I was, quite frankly, appalled when ASAP came out. I have come to actually not hate that album anymore. But, the Psycho Motel albums still do nothing for me. My observation is that maybe he was hanging out with Praying Mantis too much in the 80's [just made that up, but you can see what I mean]. Once he re-joined Dickinson, the musical direction was again taken from him and he became not much more than a hired hand.
Am I over-analyzing?

I'm not familiar with him at anytime between Seventh Son and Accident Of Birth so I can't really comment.

I am with DB once he left Iron Maiden, I did not keep up with his solo bands, do I once saw the ASaB disc dirt cheap and passed it up, regretted it ever since.

I like the Psycho Motel stuff and ASAP, although none of it is particularly memorable. It's obvious that Adrian writes in a less metallic way, which is fine by me.

Damn, when I saw dates by his name my heart skipped a beat. I thought he had died!
Smith was my favorite member of Maiden and, when ASAP came out, I always wanted it but could never find it (the days before the Internet--how did we survive?). By the time I had the means to search for it, I lost interest. Haven't heard of Psycho Motel.

I haven't listened to the Psycho Motel CD in years, but I don't remember disliking it. I never owned the ASP CD.

He has decent guest work on Michael Kiske's "Instant Clarity" record (1996), but be warned it doesn't really sound at all like you would assume from the names involved.
