He does incredible docs but yeah, there are some twitchy things about Sam.
He wore a VoiVod t-shirt while interviewing Rikki Rockett (!) of all people. I wondered if Rikki even knew who that was.
Had to prove he's cooler then the poser he's interviewing.
Rikki may have looked like your little sister on the cover of "Look What The Cat Dragged In" but he is far from a poser. He can play his instrument and play it pretty well. A poser is the guy out in front of the club who plays the part but isn't even in a band or a musician.

The Cannibal Corpse documentary "Centuries of Torment" is amazing. So much information about the band and its roots. Its a good 30 minutes to an hour before they even get into the formation of the band!

I don't know if I'd say it's the best, but I quite liked Until the Light Takes Us.
Ooh yeah, that was a good'un.
I also recently saw American Hardcore, that was cool as well.
American Hardcore is one that I have not seen yet but really want to. Have you seen Another State of Mind about the early days of Social Distortion and LA Punk? I have never even seen a copy of it, but I want to.

A lot of great ones mentioned but I'll go with Beyond The Lighted Stage as my personal favorite. I just think that is the most complete and one I find myself re-watching often.

TBH I've seen them all, I was just fishing to unearth one I hadn't - the Rat Skates I haven't and the Saxon have eluded me. I don't have the bread to buy em sadly.

Well I really liked "God Bless Ozzy Osbourne". My favorite though are the Sodom DVD's. Can't remember the title right now though.
Also The Black Sabbath Story Vol 1 and 2!

Yeah that first Lords Of Depravity about Sodom is great. Comprehensive as all hell and in German (thankfully subtitled). Must see for any fan. Have never gotten around to part two.
I thought those Sabbath Story docs were just way too short. I like the way they were done but wanted so much more.

After catching bits & pieces of the "Lemmy" doc (and several others) on VH1 Classic this past weekend, I wrote a blog about my list of Ten Great Heavy Metal Documentaries.

I have this and it is fully awesome and super unique. It is actually Social D and Youth Brigade on tour in like 1981. As opposed to an in-depth look at the LA Scene itself. I'd sell it to ya cheap.

The "Classic Albums" docs are pretty good. If you have Netflix, most of them are on there.

Forgot one that I have had for awhile that I really like called "Satan Rides the Media" which was filmed in Norway.
Another I thought was good but even so not caring for the band was "A Year and a Half in the Life of Metallica".
