| Thanksgiving Eve, as I was taste-testing beers for proper drinkability temperature and Mrs. MetalGuy71 was chasing the turkey around the compound, I watched the 'Back to the Future' trilogy back-to-back in all their 1.21 gigawatts glory. It got me to thinking of my favorite trilogy of movies.
The ones I listed were the top 4 I immediatley came up with, so lets go with those. I'm not counting that last Indiana Jones movie where he fights off both aliens and Shia Lebouffs sexual advances. And in regards to Star Wars, don't insult me by bringing up those first 3. You know the ones I'm talking about.
Ultimately I went with 'Back to the Future'. I've seen all three enough times that I could quote each one ad naseum and will continue to watch them every time I channel surf and see them playing.
Star Wars loses points for 'Empire' and the proliferation of Ewoks. The Godfather movies lost on account of Part III. Indiana Jones coulda been a contender for top spot if I had stumbled upon those flick on that fatefull eve.
So what's yours? They don't have to be the greatest or even make sense, story-wise. Just the trilogy of movies YOU like best.

| For me, Star Wars hands down. Those 3 were a huge part of my childhood (I was even a member of the fan club for a spell) and I still enjoy watching them over and over.
Back To The Future and Indiana Jones are both great but just can't touch Star Wars.
And,believe it or not, I have never seen 1 Godfather movie. I just never had the urge to check them out.

And,believe it or not, I have never seen 1 Godfather movie. I just never had the urge to check them out. I'm half Italian. It's required viewing in most families. And yea, I too was a member of the Star Wars fan club. Back off, ladies. _________________ I used to be with it, but then they changed what "it" was. | Went with Star Wars.... yes, it had the Ewoks.... but Empire Strikes Back more than makes up for it (and helps set the gold standard for sequels..... I guess Godfather II can be thrown in as well)
Back To The Future is fun... but the second flick was a bit of a mess (still, a fun mess), sort of the prologue to the third (which was excellent), but neither is as good as the first.
Godfather III, what a mess... horrible flick! Sofia Coppola soon found out her calling wasn't to be an actress (she's a much better director)
Indy - since it's trilogies we can pull the last one out of consideration.... the second one was the weakest of the three and neither were as good as the first.
Star Wars hands down.... love those first three flicks (the ORIGINAL cuts, not the later editions.) Jedi was the weakest of the three, but still a satisfying ending.

| BACK TO THE FUTURE! I'm pretty much like you MG. If theres any movie I can quote from the most it would be this one. I've seen it so many times. Talking about it now makes me want to throw in the good 'ol Blu Ray versions I got last year but haven't watched yet.
I like Star Wars but I just don't really go back to watch them. I couldn't even tell you the last time I've seen those first 3 movies. I was getting my gf into it and I wanted to start with those other "first 3 movies" and we made through the first one and we never got to the second one. I actually didn't mind those.
I never saw any of the Indiana Jones movies. I've watched all the Godfather movies. They should have just left it alone after the first one.
Some others I like are: Pirates of the Carribean. I thought they were all pretty good up til this past one. They really should have left it alone and ended it.
Lord Of The Rings. My gf never seen these and I want to start getting her to watch it because the Hobbit is coming out.
Spiderman. I still haven't seen the newest one, and don't really want to.
Batman. I liked the first one with Michael Keaton, but the newer ones with Christian Bale were so much better. I just wish they picked better Villans for the first and last movie. I actually haven't seen the last one yet but I already know its good haha.

| The original "Star Wars" trilogy for me too. The "new" trilogy (i.e. Episodes I thru III) don't exist on Planet Freddy. _________________ "If you're a false, don't entry, because you'll be burned and died!"

| Star Wars. Indy is a close second (Raiders is untouchable), then Back to the Future (Part III was OK), then the Godfather (I and II were amazing, III OK).
I'd definitely add Lord of the Rings under other, as well.

| Neither is a trilogy, but I'd go with the James Bond series and the Alien series.

| What about the Jurassic Park trilogy? I found all of them to be entertaining, though the peak was obviously the first one. Or the Robocop series. Just forget that the 2 and 3 sucked, the original more than makes up for that! How about the Die Hards? see Robocop. Oh, and I don't count Die Hard with a Vengeance. What about Jaws or Friday the 13th? Yeah, they went over, but just take their first three. And both of their third installments were in 3D! I like the Rocky movies a good deal, but they also went over. Anyways, from the poll, I went with Indy. I almost picked Back to the Future, but I prefer how the Indy movies just use the same characters but different storylines ala the James Bond series (which I also like a good deal). I used to like Star Wars, but it's been beaten to death, yet it is the energizer bunny. I've never seen any Godfather movies. I'll have to fix that. The first one at least. | |

technically the new trilogy is 7,8,9 hehehe I love Back to the Future, Star Wars and while I dont consider Indiana Jones a trilogy I like them too, another one I dig is the Lord of the Rings, and the Matrix trilogy and I am sure when the 2nd and 3rd movies of the hunger games are done Ill like that one too

| I would go with Star Wars as it has been a favorite since childhood. I don't even have to watch it anymore becasue the movies are so imbeded in my brain. However, I feel that LotR has surpassed it (plus I know a buttload of votes will go to it). I judge a lot of movies by the emotions stirred in me and LotR does that in a big way. Star Wars still holds the nostaglia factor but that is really the only emotion it brings out anymore. | |

I wonder how The Hobbit trilogy (yes, they are making 3 mocies out of it) will stack up..... cant wait to see it! Loved the first Matrix, but the second and third where kind of a mess.... I liked them at first, but they just don't hold up to multiple viewings. BTW - They are making 4 Hunger Games, as is now common place (thanks to Harry Potter, which worked but that book was almost 1000 pages) they are splitting the last book into two movies......
