Have fun. Along with the Jazz clubs make sure you hit up some record stores (if they are even still open). I always made a big score on my trips to the village back many years ago.

I went to college in Staten Island NY and my friend Sean and I made a pilgrimage to the Village every month or so to do a Record Store Tour. Those were the days!! Not many of our old haunts are still open though.

Last I checked, St. Mark's Sounds on St. Mark's Place is still around. Bleecker Bob's Records on West 3rd may or may not still be open, earlier this year I heard rumors that they were being forced out by the landlord, who wanted to rent the space to a Starbucks.

I've heard about that place but I don't think I ever found it or been there. Theres just (or was) so many music stores in the city. I'd love to take a trip into brooklyn or to NJ in the near future I haven't been out there for at least a year.

Had a good and fun trip. We didn't get to make it to a Jazz club... just too tired after all that walking! The pizza does kick some serious ass( I don't know how I can eat the swill that they make here, anymore Smile

)...... as do the bagels. We went to see the 9/11 Memorial....... very impressive and sobering(they have a database were you can actually see a picture of who died). Times Square was crazy, the Met Museum was huge and
Central Park was pretty cool. We also saw some guys breakdancing in the Subway(which was fun to ride)......... threw them a few dollars for the entertainment(they were good!).

.......and WOW!!!!!! Lp prices are crazy!!! Stuff that I have paid 2-3 dollars for around here was priced like $20-30..... WTF. I even checked condition to see if it warranted those prices.... nope pretty much the same.

I thought Bleecker Bob's sucked when I was up there in 2002. They had very little I was interested in. Frankly, my local shop had a far better selection then anyplace in NYC. There was one exception and that was the Virgin Megastore in Times Square. The Metal selection was insane, with imports out the ying-yang. I spent a small fortune there. I think it's long gone though.
