Wow I am glad Sabaton split up! The four sacked members have joined forces with one of my favorite singers Patrick Joansson (Astral Doors, Wuthering Heights). And guess what, they sing about war!!
It`s streaming now on Spotify: http://www.rocknytt.net/streaming/8316-civil-war-streamar-sin-debut-ep
EP can be ordered here: http://despotz.bigcartel.com/artist/civil-war

Sounds good to me. I like Patrick Johansson's vocals too. This sounds like what it is; Sabaton's music sung by Astral Doors.

that sounds pretty good actually. I was burned on his vocals for years but this sounds good.

I listened to some other tracks and this seems like a winner.

It's a bit generic for my taste. They were definitely interested in pursuing a traditional meat-and-potatoes approach to power metal. Sabaton is a bit more adventurous and bombastic, with their newest record crossing into symphonic territory without actually being symphonic.
Decent stuff.

It's good but it would be better if his voice was deeper. I'll still get it.

Just got their new album Gods and Generals some days ago. I think it ia a fantastic album! Lots of catchy anthems and quality songs. Album of the year so far for me. I wonder if this will be their last album since they sort of split up a while ago.

I`m a huge fan of the vocalist... I think he does a great job in Civil War, Wuthering Heights and Astral Doors. But to each their own.

I just ordered all three of their CDs. I don't even like Sabaton, but I like that Astral Floors/Wuthering Heights singer and I like the type of music Sabaton plays, just not Sabaton. So I figured what the hell.
I specifically wanted to plunge in on a new band I never heard before. It'll be a Christmas present for myself, since I'll be out of the country and won't be back home listening to them before Christmas.
So, to keep on topic: for those who own them, how would you rank the three Civil War albums?

Can't really rank as I have their EP and The Killer Angels only, both are high quality metal efforts. But I guess its basically the same thing over and over, and that isn't bad honestly. Kinda like Axel Rudi Pell, or Astral Doors.

So just as I decided to get into this band, the singer leaves:
He was the reason I was interested in the first place.
I still haven't heard Civil War. UPS i-parcel lost my shipment which contained their first 2 CDs, and Amazon just now sent me replacements. I've had the 2016 album awhile, but I didn't play it because I've been busy and also because I want to listen to them in chronological order.

sucks he left. I really enjoyed all the albums so far. His voice will be hard to replace.

Interview from November (click).
When asked about the Sabaton connection:
Quote :
"it is tough for us to convince the 'real' music fans that we actually are a good band since most of the real metal fans hate SABATON. So it's both good and bad."
That totally seems to be directed at me. It took me all this time to discover Civil War.
I wonder if Civil War will continue even after Nils Patrik Johansson. They seem to have completed their trilogy. What next? And can they ever get a singer half as good?
I wasn't familiar with these, but it's obvious that Civil War is inspired by Jeff Shaara's works - Amazon link.

Anyone else heard their album from last year, Invaders? It’s got a new singer, Kelly Sundown Carpenter. It’s an absolutely fantastic release and one of my top 2 favorites from last year.

I did not get this, though I have the first three. Nils Patrik Johansson was my selling point originally.

Nothing against Nils, of course, but I actually prefer’s Kelly’s vocals. He’s one of my favorite power metal singers.
