| Couldn't see a thread for this type of thing, but forgive me if there is.
Who here collects concert Blu-rays? I've started to try and get a few more. I currently own:
Europe - Live at Shepherd's Bush, London Steel Panther - British Invasion
and just ordered:
Statrovarius - Under Flaming Winter Skies-Live in Tampere
and more good ones people can recommend? I would grab both Iron Maiden releases, but they're so damn expensive at the moment.

| Not a concert blu-ray only, but I highly recommend the Lemmy documentary on blu-ray. It does have a 30 minute set in the extras along with a ton of other stuff. One of my favorite blu-rays period.
I always debate whether to upgrade from the concert dvds I have. I've pretty much held off based on reviews I've seen of various things.

| I have some:
Return to Forever: Live at Montreux Pat Metheny Group: The Way Up Live Iron Maiden: Flight 666
but I need more. There's a lack of metal blu-Ray. It would probably never happen, but I'd like to get the whole Melodic Metal Strikes Back 1993 tour (Gamma Ray, Rage, Conception) on blu-ray, every performance on there is smoking.

| I was in my local pawnshop this weekend and picked up Kansas - Theres No Place Like Home. I always dug Kansas and I dealed the guy down on price to where I couldn't resist. Came home and found out it is quite the collectable score. I guess it was a limited Best Buy exclusive. Is listed on amazon for insane prices.
Watching it today it was well worth what I paid but crazy if anyone is actually paying three digits for it. The concert itself starts a bit slow but finds it's pace at the halfway point. Of course that is when I become more familiar with the material so that might have something to do with it. I have to say the audio is mind-blowing. I'm not a big audiophile type nor is my set-up but this impressed the hell out of me. Memo to self - get more music on this format. Memo to industry - give me more music in this format.

| I was talking to the Hastings video manager and he claims that the vast majority of sales/rentals are still in dvd. So Dallas you are clearly not the only ones. I'd say hold out even longer - the stuff is really dropping in price. My guess is twenty dollar players aren't far off. | |

(Raises hand) You're not the only one. The Blu-Ray revolution hasn't reached my house yet either. To move up to Blu, I'd also have to replace my TV, which pre-dates Blu-Ray tech (late 90s). Whenever that set craps out and I'm forced to upgrade to a new flatscreen/HD/LCD/whatever "modern" TV, then I'll upgrade to a Blu Ray player at the same time. I'm in no hurry, I don't watch many concert videos anyway. _________________ "If you're a false, don't entry, because you'll be burned and died!"

She was seeing all the Black Friday ads and said, "So, should we get a Blu-Ray player for the living room?". I was surprised that she'd even bring it up. Anywhoo, I'm like Freddy. When the living room tv goes and we're forced to make the upgrade, I'll go the whole nine. _________________ I used to be with it, but then they changed what "it" was. Now what I'm with isn't it, and what's it seems weird and scary to me, and it'll happen to you, too.

| That's the only reason we have a flatscreen TV in the living room, our old TV started crapping out on us. My room and my dad's room still have regular TVs with only audio/video and coaxial cable connections (my nephew's XBox won't connect to any of them). Even when the TV in my room goes out, it will we be replaced with a pawn shop TV as modern TVs are still out of my price range. Also, with hundreds of DVDs and the fact they are still made and still cheaper than Blu-ray discs, I don't see a need to upgrade anytime soon or until I have a better income source. | |
