| Any fans of brit prog metallers Threshold?
Been loving this band since they released subsurface in 2004. Latest release, march of progress is a superb album and returning original vocalist Damien Wilson puts in a stellar performance.
Quick question to any fans, nuclear blast have started reissuing the band's back catalogue as 'the definitive editions'. I wanted to know if anyone has any of these and knows if they have been remastered and if they have how do they compare to the remasters from inside out, the band's previous label. I've tried googling but can't find any concrete answers. There's one or two albums that I think could do with a new remastering job and would pick them up if I thought they would be an improvement over what I've got.

| According to this thread on the Threshold forum, the sound on Wounded Land has been improved. So that suggests that some remastering is happening, but I don't know if it's just that album or the others as well. | |

| I have most of the InsideOut remasters and I thought they were a great improvement over the originals. _________________ | |

| Of course they are re-releasing them again after I got most of the inside out remasters except for one! ugh! I don't have any problem with the inside out versions. I never had the originals so I couldn't compare. Even if I did I would probably choose remaster of original anyway. I need to get extinct instinct, but I want to get the inside out version just to complete that series. It's just annoying that its a little pricey.
Do the nuclear blast ones have bonus tracks? _________________

Do the nuclear blast ones have bonus tracks? from what I could understand they do have bonus material. I checked Amazon and they want $27 for the definitive series. For that price, Ill stick with the InsideOut remasters. _________________

| Theres some on there that are $15, but I'm not sure which version it is cause it says other versions available. Its the same thing with the new Thin Lizzy remasters. They are going for $30! WTH!? _________________ | |

| I might check a few out since it's been a little difficult for me to get into Threshold, I have 'Critical Mass' and really enjoy some of the songs on it, but at the same time there's something very sterile about much of the record which has kind of not moved me to go further yet. | |

You gotta pick up Psychodelacatessen. yep. The first three albums are amazing in my book. _________________

| I have most of these in expanded form already. I'm not buying them again unless, by chance, I come across them for a few bucks. I hate this crap. | |

I got Psychodelacatessen used for $15 but only because that store had a sale and I figured I would use the money I saved with the free CDs for the extra price.

| I almost picked up 3 Threshold albums from Nuclearblast.de because I saw they were cheap (€7.77). I chickened out at the checkout when I saw they charge €14 for shipping!
I've never listened to Threshold, but I love Damian Wilson in Star One. The ones I looked at were Wounded Land (definitive), Extinct Instinct (definitive) and March of Progress (digi).
EDIT: Doing the math - €7.77 x 3 + €14 (shipping) = €12.44 (or $15.50) per item. So that's not actually much cheaper than full price. Still worth getting?

| Well, Eyesore's word is good enough for me. I ordered them.
The interesting thing is, I've never heard a single song by this band. I don't even know what they sound like, and I'll soon own three of their albums.

Damian Wilson is one of my favorite vocalists. Be warned, though, if you go digging into the rest of their catalog, Wilson was only the vocalist for the three you bought and the latest, For the Journey. Andrew McDermott, who unfortunately has since passed away, sang on the rest. He was great, though, and so are the other albums.

Except for Psychedelicatessen, which Glynn Morgan sang on, and he was also a good vocalist.

| These three actually covers band's eras quite nicely. With Critical Mass, which happens to be my favorite, it would be a great place to start. | |

| Here's some live footage from last year.
http://www.wdr.de/tv/rockpalast/extra/videos/2013/0519/threshold.jsp
It's tough to hear the backing vocals, which means that some of the songs don't work quite so well, but there's nothing wrong with the rest of the performance.
