Um....there was a new Immortal Souls in 2011!? I have heard NOTHING about this release. I just ran across it on iTunes and bought it. Does anybody have this? Wintereich is one of my favorite death albums. I can't wait to listen to this on the way home.
I really liked that record too, so I'll need to check this one out..this band has always needed a better marketing team. They riff far better than most of the 'melodeath' sludge.
i dont remember much about it (tons of memory loss medications), but if i recall, it was their lamest and least original yet. worst in pretty much every aspect. theyve essentially done worse and worse as theyve gone along (post demo era), divine wintertime (superb) > UTNS (good) > IUTN (decent, though different) > wintereich (passable) > this latest one (mreh). i did grow to like wintereich a little more than i did initially, perhaps (or was that liking it less? i dont remember), so ill give iv another shot sometime i guess. ive always been a really big fan of immortal souls.

I bought this one as a new release, I think it is their best yet, with the exception of the song "The Reek Of Rotting Rye". The vocals on this song sound bizarre and harsh. The rest of the album has a huge amount of melody. I love this album.
They've never topped Under The Northern Sky for me, but Wintereich got close. Would give this one a try but so many CDs, so little money. Especially in a genre I've grown tired of. If I ever find it used though, I'll get it.

I've listened to this all weekend and just keep loving it more and more. This is slower, yes, but still plenty of fast songs. It's darker and heavier than Wintereich. I'll let the music do the talking!
