| When you rip a cd to your mp3 player, do you put the whole album on the player or just your personal favorite tracks? I do the latter, but that has more to do with me having limited space on the player. I often rotate songs on and off as well. Basically, why waste space on a track that i dont like? | |

| I put whole albums, but then I have a TON of space on my player and not that many albums. There have been songs that I did not like so much but with repeated listens have grown on me, and vice-versa is also true. | |

| Mine is oldschool 1 Gb samsung, so I go with like 7-9 albums and some fave tunes to fill the space left. | |

| I only rip my favorite tracks if it's from a CD. I do the entire album if it's one I downloaded. _________________ "The cat is the most ruthless, most terrifying of animals." - Spock in the "Catspaw" episode of ToS Season 2.

| the whole cd, even if it has songs i don't like. sometimes when you hear a song you initially dislike in a different setting on a different day, you can feel differently about it.
if i'm low on space, i just buy another iPod. _________________

Yep, this is what I did too , The iPod Classic may be slightly overpriced but it is well worth it in the long run, the thing's built like a tank Rip it at 320kbps, no reason to get stingy on bit-rates Useful tip : There are tons of iPod to PC transfer programmes that does the work, the iPod OS can give you occasional headaches so always make a back-up before it's too late... during the course of my ownership,I have experienced nasty troubles such as mislabeled artists, wrong / erased cover arts, entire library un-able to play etc.

| I actually do both - I put the entire album on my iPod, but I also have a folder with just my favourite tracks and sometimes I'll put that folder on shuffle. - EmoElmo wrote:

I've got into the habit of when ripping a CD to iTunes I backup the ripped files as well as transferring them to my iPod. That way if something untoward ever does happen I don't have to go through the whole process of ripping all my CDs again.

| I have 16 GB so I have several full albums, but mostly just the songs I would want to listen to while running or something since that's the mostly when I listen to my mp3 player. | |

| More-or-less whole albums. I won't bother with tracks I can't stand, largely redundant demos and remixes, or non-music tracks, but that's about it. | |

| I'm into ripping whole albums to store on my 3 ipods, 2 MP3 players and 1 Android phone. Total space is just a tad over 100 GB. Still not enough though. | |

| We all have to be aware that the days of HDD spin-drive MP3 players like the 'Classic' are numbered, a solid-state drive re-incarnation of it is a possibility but it'll surely come with a reduced capacity at a hefty price, that is, IF they'll ever make a dedicated music player .....sucks for us music lovers

| I have a 160 gb ipod classic with plenty of space on it so I do entire albums, unless there's a cover tune on it that I already have on it done by another band. No use have the same song on there more than once. | |

| Only albums, but there are a few mixes on my various devices with songs I like from groups I wouldn't care for the whole album (basically a bunch of guilty pleasure mixes).
I've filled up two ipods and a nano. So I do a lot of deleting to create new space. It's a pain but if anything it keeps me organized. I refuse to start putting stuff on my iphone or ipad. Just can't do it.
I always laugh when I think about when the ipod came out and they said you could put your whole music collection on it. Yeah right, normal people maybe.

| I load whole albums on my mp3 player. It's on the small-ish side, so I'm frequently wiping it clean and re-loading it with whatever strikes my mood that day. _________________ I used to be with it, but then they changed what "it" was. | I rip whole albums. The best thing about it is that normally you end up enjoying more of the songs rather than just the one or two you bought the album for. I rip all my songs at 320kbs and I still have plenty of room. If it does get to the point where I am out of space, I can easily use the option in iTunes which converts all songs to 128kbs, whilst leaving the files on the computer intact and of course negates the need to re-rip every CD I own.
I forgot mention that I use a 160GB iPod Classic. Pricey, but worth every penny, especially as it has no real competitors. I hope that Apple make a new version using SSD as that would make it even quicker to access songs and of course reduce noise and increase reliability.
