I love that Kinks album.

Back in college, my roommate and I used to be fans of this local band called Night Rider that used play the local college bars. They always opened the show with "Around The Dial" and we always thought it was an original (they sprinkled in originals in their set). One night when we were helping them load their van, we asked them when they wrote that song and the guitar player said, "We didn't, that's by the Kinks".

We both bought "Give The People What They Want" the next day.

The band was formed by Peter Banks, the original guitarist on the first two YES albums. They released two albums in 1972 and a third in 1973. The style is very similar to Yes.
