Last night my gf and I went to see the band Pulp.....wait, wheres everyone going?
Yea so they aren't a metal band. I know I'm not tr00 or kvlt enough right? hahaha Well they are one of my favorite non metal bands and I was really excited to see that they reunited. Not sure if they are just doing live shows or making new music to or whatever. Either way I couldn't miss this show since the last time they came to NY was 14 years ago. I thought who the hell would know these guys or even remember them. I was surprised to find out quite a bit of people still remembered them and I think the show was sold out at Radio City Music Hall for last nights show. They did a show the night before which was added on after last nights show was sold out.
The opening band was horrible. I think they were some local band called Jefferey Lewis and the somethings (I forget what the and the's were) either way it didn't matter cause they were pretty bad. They sort of reminded me of They Might Be Giants. They had some cool ideas with what they did with their music but it was just way too far out there.
Pulp came on at 9 and they had like a mesh screen that came down and they had words come across talking to the crowd and getting everyone pumped up. Then the band came on and their stage show reminded me of something maybe U2 would have done. They had tv screens behind them and it would show all these images for certain songs and the bands logo would light up for certain parts of songs and they also had some lazer lights which were pretty cool to watch go across Radio City. The band themselves really don't do much but play their instruments. The real performer was their vocalist who was all over the place from one end of the theater to the other and just being a really great front man.
This was probably my first concert where the band played every song that I really liked from them with the exception of 1 song but even that 1 song was fine. They put on such a great show that it didn't matter. I was a little annoyed that everyone in front of me had to stand up. A little stupid when your in the 1st Mezzanine, but whatever we stood up through almost the whole show.
So in all we had fun and even my trip into Manhatten wasn't that bad. I even found parking on the same street as the Theater, which is almost impossible!
Heres some pics. Can't really see much cause they were taken with my phone. I never know anymore if cameras are allowed or not. These places seem to keep getting picky about taking pictures lately.
