Nice update Ult. If you think Stu's voice is incredible on "Scattering Of Ashes", you should hear him live. His falsetto is even more amazing in person.

XIII is my favorite Rage album. So good. And that's probably the best cover of "Paint It Black" I've ever heard.

Hmm, I thought Silent Rage would not suit your tastes? I like that sort of '80s melodic rock, and even I found them to be pretty meh (just like Blue Tears)... Should probably give them another try... Now that you mention April Wine in the Running Out of Time review, have you got, or will you get, any of their stuff? Oh, and the main page still shows the March update as the latest one.

Don't think I have any April Wine currently.

Good. Keep it that way.

Scott, I've been reading your HEART reviews and really enjoying them. The second album I ever bought was "Dreamboat Annie" in 1976 and I've been a fan ever since. Nice to see someone else that's passionate about their music.

Thanks.
Dreamboat Annie is on my want list.

"Without going into a complete song but song review" should be "by". Sorry I missed that the first time.

Hey Ult - liked your review on The Sacrificed III. Just got it and love it. Michael Phillips sounds really really good.
Do you agree with what I said about the vocals?
I do agree about the vocals. They are hard to pick up. I remember the vocals on their Deliverance cover of ' Slay the Wicked' bring crystal clear. Not sure what happened with this album. He has a great voice - just want to make out the words more easily. Il listen to some death metal if I want to try to decipher vocals.

Silent Rage sound very similar to Whitesnake (circa 1987) with a bit of Crazy Nights-era KISS thrown in. It's not overly saturated with keyboards and has enough grit to keep it from sounding too 'meh'. The songs are catchy, the drums are big, the hair is big...

XIII was the first Rage album I ever bought, I picked it up out of the clearance bin at Tower Records on a whim about ten years ago. I'd been reading about 'em in metal mags for years but had never checked them out till then.
Strangely, it's a Japanese copy with a bonus track (cover of Rush's "Tom Sawyer") so it has fourteen tracks, which kinda negates the whole "thirteen" thing...
