Nothing's like waking up to find that the pipe that leads from the waterheater to the house has busted and has been shooting water into the living room wall while you have been asleep.

What a mess!!!!!! It knocked out our electrical in the gararge and dining room, as well. Drying out before work!!!!! Yeah!!!!!

My condolences.

My bathtub is starting to leak and drip into the living room again. Looks like I'll be doing some caulking this weekend. Yea.

That sucks.

Your water heater is outside your house?

It's in the garage, but it's situated next to the wall that is the living room on the other side. So, I guess when it broke and started squirting, it knocked out a piece that had been covered by the previous owner(we'll just call them Mickey Mouse) and proceeded to water the backside of the living room wall. I'm using my electric blower to dry it out.

After REALLY looking at it, it doesn't look too bad. I know that I can't turn the power on the garage untill it is all dried out so that it doesn't short again and flip the circuit breaker, again. I'll have my electrician friend take a look at it, too, before I power it up again.

Looks like it has happened before, drywall is all funky.

Gotta LOVE Elverta!!!!!!!!!!!

That doesn't surprise me then. Same thing would happen to me if mine was in the garage because the main wall there is the other side of my living room and there's no heat out there. Fortunately, around here they generally put the water heaters in the basement. It would still suck if mine blew because it would mess up the finished part of my basement but that would be better than what you're dealing with.

Good luck!

Yet another reason why I stockpile vacation days.

Right now I'm in the position to have to burn 9 days between now and the end of March or I'll lose them. People keep asking me why I save days off. I'm going to add your scenario to my list of reasons.

Ouch!!!!!!! That suck - sorry!!!!

I thought my water heater was going a few years ago - fortunately it was just the thermostat (less than 10 bucks at Home Depot, replaced both of them just in case the other one went. I have a feeling the water heater is just waiting until the day I finish the basement so it can leak everywhere....

That sucks...
Thankfully I haven't really had any major problems since I've been at my grandfathers house except the cesspool and a pipe we pulled out by digging up a bush. We've been pretty lucky but there are plenty of things to fix around here. If anyone wants to help come on over I'll leave the key under the mat.

about a year ago our septic tank backed up or clogged or something. I was at work and my wife called me at 1 am to tell me what happened, half our basement was covered in sh*t. She was just finishing when I came home at 6 am. Nasty.....

When the hurricane came through the east last year there was a lot of anxiety around here about the house.
