| I had a regular big wheel... ...then eventually stepped it up to this bad boy... ...before moving onto 2 wheels. This ain't the exact model, but it was close... _________________ I used to be with it, but then they changed what "it" was. Now what I'm with isn't it, and what's it seems weird and scary to me, and it'll happen to you, too.

| I had a Big Wheel and then moved up to the Schwinn Tornado, circa 1978 (it's the one on the right in this pic) - exact33 wrote:

I haven't been on a bike since I was 14, I had a ten speed by then, and one day the brakes failed on me as I was coming down a very steep hill. Tried frantically to slow the bike down by dragging my feet, wasn't watching where I was going -- BLAM! Telephone pole. Six stitches in one knee, four in the other. _________________ "If you're a false, don't entry, because you'll be burned and died!"

Yup, the brand nae is DBS, and the model (as you can see) was Apache. DBS stands for Den Beste Sykkel, which means The Best Bike! We used to call them Dritten Bak Styret, meaning the smurf poo Behind the Stearingwheel! We also used to modify these bikes, putting a regular seat on it, and one of those carrier thingis on the back. It was easier to tape the boombox to those carrier gadgets! _________________

Tried frantically to slow the bike down by dragging my feet, wasn't watching where I was going -- BLAM! Telephone pole. Six stitches in one knee, four in the other. I was with my friends at the top of the hill (on the street) and we went down the hill. At the bottom the road ended and a corn field was there. We went down the hill full speed into the corn field but what i didnt see in the field until I hit it was a water pipe w/pump. It was all rusted so I didnt see it until it hit my throat and separated me from my bike. In retrospect it was like something you see in the cartoons but dang did it hurt. _________________
