Some of the bands of the thrash revival are pretty cool, but most I've found to be re-hashed and generic sounding. That's not an entirely bad thing if you're a total thrasher.
Warbringer and Havok are probably the best new bands.
Overkill's "Ironbound" and Megadeth's "Endgame", both released in the last 2 years, are easily the best albums from the genre in the last 10 years.

People keep skipping over it. I know its good in my eyes! Whether others agree with that choice is up to them.
Anyways, its in the past now. Our new stuff is WAY better!

You think "Ironbound" is better than "Tempo of the Damned"?

Caught the Anthrax/Testament/Death Angel show last night - great gig! The new Anthrax tracks sounded much better live than on the album. Testament actually blew both bands of the stage - you could tell the crowd was more into Testament, and they had a bigger mosh pit! They just killed it! Alex is a fraking awesome guitarist!!!!!

Gama Bomb and Municiple Waste and Toxic Holocaust reign supreme for an old Debbie Gibson fanatic such as myself. But, as alot of the newbsters that I see post on here expect - let's be honest = the 17-25 yr old suburban/rural/sheepfucker element that has invaded my home, should really be looking forward to the new Avenged Seven-fold!!!! cuz, from the two tracks I have heard? Will make ya spunk within the first minute!!!! [if you are over 25....and even then, probably not.]. After you go give those c's your hard earned Burger King dough [no offence Alex], Check out some bands that knows what is having an impact on your pathethic suburban life [ and join the cause], like Warbringer, Cross Examination, Enabler, and plenty more [email unclesaxon @ gmail. com if you are hip to my philosophies].
Let's also see if Kurdt andor Scott lett this post continue.... It is a new world. Are they going to stiffle one builder's opinion?

Classic Metallica on Acid Jazz ala the Freaking Awesome Alex Skolnick, .....Ah, hold on... interpretation means everything...... And I am positive this was the interpretation that Hetfield was looking for in '85.
Anyways, from the douche's lips, you decide: Me, I am Metal. Made up my narrow mind long ago. Coltrane, Davis, Goodman, F'in Krupa for F'n sake!!!! That is jazz. Hate someone for changing styles, do I??? In the case of one of the bands that shaped me...yes. Yes I do. Metal is a united scene and the vast majority do care about spending our hard earned cash on your artistic outside interests [especially when they are medeocre at best!].

Cross Examination's singer sounds insane with that high shrieky voice! Pretty cool that some young bands like them know they need to have an identity to make them stand out from among the hundreds of thrash bands out there, so that in addition to their type of high speed riffing, they made their mark.
It would help though if their songs didn't all sound so similar.

Lots of great releases mentioned. One that I really like that I did not see mentioned: --Savage Messiah Insurrection Rising (not sure of the year but they are a newer thrash band). Heavy with lots of melody. A cd I seem to spin a lot.

That is a good one. I got that over the summer, but I need to break it out and give it a fresh spin.

Hirax's El Rostro De La Muerte is my favorite thrash release of the last ten years. And one of my favorites period.
I also really love Sodom's latest In War and Pieces.

Apparently the long awaited "Facet of Aberration" by Invection is finally being released on November 15th by Stormspell Records
Towards the start of this year, I thought Invection would be the next Warbringer, but the delays in their new album seem to have stalled that. Still, I'm really happy it's coming out now, and I know they'll get a lot of recognition once it's out.
