Anyone planning on picking this up today? Loved the debut and the songs I've heard from this one are just as good. I've got it loaded on Spotify to play just as soon as I'm done listening to the new Megadeth but I plan on going out today and buying a copy as well.

Still haven't heard the first album.

I wish they wouldn't write over the top parody lyrics because the actual songs are good.

I agree. The first album was very well played stuff, but the intentionally-offensive lyrics got old after a few spins. First listen was "Hahahahahaha!," the second was "heh heh," and by the 3rd listen I was sayin' "Oooookay, that's enough of that."
The Mentors already used every good porn-metal lyric in my book.

Ditto. Talented bunch, but the joke wears thin real quick. The cover for the new album is aces though. You probably won't be finding it at Walmart.

I'm a little worried about this one. I love the first one, and I still laugh at some of the lines, but every song I've heard from the new one hasn't grown on me yet (except for 17 girls in a row).
The song titles are hilarious though

I agree that if they actually wrote lyrics that were less comedic and more serious it would be a lot better. Anyhow, glad this is on Spotify. Going to see them in December so need to give it a listen.

I loved the first album, especially death to all but metal and eyes of a panther. So i'm definitely buying this one.

Balls Out is good - I don't think its as good as the first one, but it is good. Some of the stand out tracks include "Just Like Tiger Woods", "Critter", "Gold Digging smurf-for-hire". I need to see these guys live someday...

I always wondered, are they real musicians or just a bunch of comedians?

I'm not sure about all of the band members, but I know that guitarist "Satchel" is actually Russ Parrish, who played in Fight with Rob Halford.
Vocalist "Mike Starr" is also known as Ralph Saenz, who was a fixture on the L.A. cover band circuit and who also had a short stint singing for L.A. Guns years ago.
Apparently dressing up in goofy 80s style costumes and singing comedic hair metal songs pays better than their prior gigs.

Ralph was a DLR clone in the Van Halen tribute band Atomic Punks for many years and has a small cameo in the movie 'Rock Star'. He's another singer that the band is auditioning right before Marky Mark shows up. I think he recorded an ep with LA Guns (the Tracii version). That version of the band also showed up on an Ace Frehley tribute album playing 'Cold Gin'.
Before the band was Steel Panther, they were known as Metal Skool, playing hair band covers in LA clubs during the late 90's and early 2000's. Their mission was to "keep the spirit of the 80's Sunset Strip alive".

Received this last week:
I have to say it's very impressive. The set list is basically their first album, but the bonus features does include a selection of their newer tracks from Download 2012. All the usual Steel Panther on stage antics included. Well worth picking up if you're a fan.

Every time I pull up some off of YouTube stuff from this band, it's hilarious...as is this one. The whole thing from beginning to end is great.
