My taste in music is probably the worst around here. I don't think I like progressive OR brutal heavy metal. Nope, I like melodic, mainstream metal like Axxis.

And everyone knows Finland is in Minnesota, duh.

I'm more into stoner/sludge, hardcore punk, jazz, and Zappa stuff.

How did I miss this earlier? You forgot the part about where Steve Perry alternates the vocals on the chorus with some guy who goes "WOOOOOOOOAAAAAAARRRRRGGGGG!!!!!!!"

Yes. Everyone knows Denmark is the capitol of Sweden....

The main thing I know about Finland is that it's where a lot of Swedes go to buy liquor. Sweden taxes the hell out of it so there's a lucrative ferry business between Sweden and Finland. At least that was true in the 90s.

PA and NJ had a similiar issue. It was cheaper and easier to get liquor in New Jersey, especially on Sundays. PA has finally learned to loosen up and allow state run liquor stores and beer distributors to open on Sundays.

I still make a yearly trek to Jersey around the holidays to Roger Wilco to stock up on hooch. It's like being a kid in a candy store.

Hell, one time on Howard Stern many eons ago, Howard asked Tori Spelling to name the state capital of New York, and she stated New Jersey!

I don´t know about it anymore. I think Sweden is pretty equal to us with taxes. But I know that Norwegian people come to Finland to buy their beer and liquor. Prices in Norway are about three times bigger than here. And Finnish people go to Estonia to buy liquor.

I got married last summer ( 2010 ) and we bought all of our wedding liquor from Estonia.

I have not met anyone specific, but it is sort of an unwritten truth that Americans thinks Norway is the capitol of Sweden, and that they think we have polar bears in the streets here!!

I've heard numerous funny interviews with Americans on the radio though. One interviewer asked if these teenagers could name a country starting with the letter U. Most people had no clue, but this one girl answered Utah! And they all lived in the US of friggin' A!!

I also loved this chick on "Are You Smrter Than A 5th Grader?", when asked about which European country had the capitol named Prague, her answer was, at first: "but, but, but.... I thought Europe was a country??!" Then she went on to answer: "France, even though I am not sure if that is a country"!!!!

Norwegians go to Sweden for liquor, Swedes go to Denmark, The Danes go to Germany, the Germans go to Poland! Then the Polish comes here to take our jobs!!

Another interesting fact, to me anyway, is that Finnish is one of only a handful of languages in Europe that is not connected to the Indo-European languages. Supposedly it's one of the most difficult languages for a native English speaker to learn. But that didn't stop Tolkien from using it as a basis for one of his Elvish languages.

I tell you a story. Few years back I was in a train with my friend. We were going to see Whitesnake. We were talking with my friend normally just like we allways do.. and suddenly about 5 years old girl started to cry in the next seat. She was sitting with a man and they were speaking French. After a breaf discussion her dad started to talking to us.. and asked "why are you fighting?". "My daughter is afraid of you because you are fighting".



I had no idea that Finnish sounds so aggressive in the ears of french people.

Swedes think of Norwegians the way US inhabitants think of those living in the south here. "Rednecks".

When we first met our company contact at Arlanda airport in Stockholm we had to wait for a train. While we were there, we saw this guy taking a leak in the corner of the train station while his wife was hitting him with her purse. Our Swedish rep's only comment was "Must be a Norwegian."
