I have no idea what qualifications Springsteen, Madonna or Streisand have to tell me who to vote for... I don't think madonna has the qualifications to tell anyone how to do anything except...well, you get where I'm goin with this. i do but i doubt she would... _________________

| I like all the R.E.M. albums up through "New Adventures In Hi-Fi". I saw them on a couple tours (Green & Out Of Time) and I've also met Michael and Peter on a couple different occasions. Great guys and great band.
Favorite albums are Chronic Town (EP) and Document.

| first few R.E.M. LP's were good. burn the rest.
As for Stipe, google some "gossip" sites, and you will see a recurring theme. I have zero respect for him.

| Zombie thread! Back from the dead! Grrr! Arrrrgh!! I may have to amend some of my earlier comments in this thread about R.E.M. -- since I've been scrounging for CDs at Goodwill so often this past year, I have acquired several of their CDs ( Out of Time, Green, and the Eponymous odds-and-ends comp) and I've actually been enjoying them quite a bit, esp. Eponymous. I guess I've sorta been a closet R.E.M. fan all these years. Who knew? (shrugs) My comment about wanting to punch Michael Stipe still stands though. Dude is irritating. _________________ "If you're a false, don't entry, because you'll be burned and died!"

| Ugh.
I hate REM. There's a song or two here or there that I can tolerate but I mostly detest Stipe's whiny vocals.
I think the only REM song I actually like is Radio Free Europe. _________________ "The cat is the most ruthless, most terrifying of animals." - Spock in the "Catspaw" episode of ToS Season 2.

I didn't either. I thought they were long retired and the world was a better place because of it. I remember reading an article once where Brian Johnson from AC/DC said that he went up to Michael Stipe to shake his hand and the guy just turned around and ignored him. What a prick. I guess he couldn't stand being in the presence of a real man. Brian laughed it off, and it gave me one more reason to hate their music. That's actually pretty funny to me cause I knew a guy who was in a band in the '70s that had played with some fairly well known bands, one of which was Geordie and he said that they acted like total rock star assholes (despite not actually having any success) and were total jerks to his band.

| I still don't give 2 squirts about REM. I never cared much for them or their pretentious fans back in the day. I was too metal and they were too sissy. _________________ I used to be with it, but then they changed what "it" was.
