| I just started using Last FM, being the strange fellow I am. So far, I'm in love with it -- I think I'll literally be playing this power metal playlist until I die. Anyway, how many of you use Last FM (I remember a good number of you doing so, and I though to myself "Oh, big deal, it's just a radio station...". Turns out I was wrong.), and what's your favorite thing to listen to on it. | |

| Yeah it's free. I used until my dad decided he didn't like it leaving ports open on the comp. Last.fm almost always plays the good stuff from any genre. | |

| I'm using it to find some new and related music; I feel like my new music has just been a bunch of guys side projects recently I've already found a few good power metal artists, and I realized that there are two bands called Lost Horizon, both of which are good (Heiman's is better, though). | |

| I really only use it to gather my personal playback statistics. So I'll log on about once every month or so, just to see where my tastes have led.
The social networking side of it really doesn't hold any interest for me. |

I didn't realize there was one; well, I'm not going to use that anyway. I get more than enough social networking done on the ol' Bookface.

| the times ive used it the somewhat poor selection, limited variety, lame genre/sound specificity, and lack of a non-stop music experience completely turned me off to ever using it again. i dont know what sort of options last.fm has but i just imagine it being an improvement in at least one or two of those categories. i figure im just better off choosing my own music, though. if i need new bands, i can discover them and listen to them independent of a radio station and introduce their material into my collection. | |

| I haven't listened to regular radio since...hmmm...I guess the 90's sometime, I haven't owned a tuner since 1999. Never missed it for a second.
I basically like to choose every single song that I listen to, I'm just too picky to listen to radio. I'll stick to making playlists.

That's me too. A lack of a good hard rock/metal radio station in my area is a factor as well.

| Yeah, radio sucks. I have one classic rock station that gets reception, and the rest is either country or cRap. I just listen to my own music. - Quote :

That's me too. A lack of a good hard rock/metal radio station in my area is a factor as well. Well, this is awkward, because I still listen to the radio... like, a lot. There are two very good contributing factors to this: 1. My ipod works as a transistor radio, using the headphones as an antenna. It's just so convenient when I get bored of listening to my own music, that I use it a lot. AND 2. My local radio station is owned by a nearby college campus, and it's student directed. So, I get a fairly nice selection of good music. Best part of it all is, late at night (especially on weekends), they play hours and hours of power, melodic, viking, and pagan metal. It's glorious, and I listen to it almost every night. So yeah, I'm probably the only "27 year old " to listen to the radio anymore.

| If you live near a college, definitely tune in to the radio, that's where you find the good stuff.
Once all the major radio markets were bought out by conglomerates, any variety went out the window. They just force feed you the same few hundred tracks over and over and over.
No thanks, life's too short for that.

| That's definitely true; I'm fortunate to have not only the college station, but also a Chicago-area station that happens to play some fairly heavy stuff with good frequency. | |

| Well, in the past hour or two I have made an account on Last FM and have listened to a christian metal playlist I made, made a US power metal playlist, and have been introduced to Malice, Attacker, Anacrusis, just to name a few. I'm glad I checked it out. | |

Nice! That's basically what I did, too.

I'm starting to question this too. My CD drive in my computer seems to choose at random what CDs it will play so sometimes I'm using my stereo and therfore don't get to "scrobble". It used to make me mad at first that I couldn't scrobble every song I'm listening to but now I'm like "why?"
