Anyone check out this new band by Gary Cherone and his brother? I picked it up today and I'm diggin' the hell out of it. It's modern-sounding hard rock, I guess, but it's got great hooks, and very Extreme-like harmonies. And a lot of the songs follow a non-standard structure, which is a nice change.
Check it out:
Great stuff. A surprising song is this one:
That's a song about the cop "allegedly" killed by Mumia Abu-Jamal...you know, the murderer that an obscene amount of mindless, heartless celebrities support and call innocent. Not sure I've ever heard a song that calls Mumia the murderer.
The video is kind of annoying, though, with all the overdubbed crap.
Anyway, Extreme fans should really dig this album.

I'm intending to check out the full album at some point, but these few tracks sound prom(nising. I do generally just really enjoy Gary's voice. In that last track, he sounds almost like Bob Dylan if Bob Dylan could sing ot a slight on Dylan, the man just has a bad voice).

That last track reminds me of another song, but I can't figure it out at all. And it's funny, too, because I first thought it might be a Dylan cover. I definitely hear it. Hell, maybe it's reminding me of a Dylan song, I don't know.

I checked out the video you posted on FB and I was surprised how much I liked it, what is the title of the last tune on the album, I am curious to hear it since both of you are making comparsions to Bob Dylan.

Not much of an Extreme or Gary Cherone fan, so it's unlikley that I'd pick this up. Not bad, just didn't rattle my bones.
That being said, living in Philly, the Daniel Faulkner case is still a very hot topic still all these years later and it's nice to see someone show the police officer's point of view for once.

I heard of this band a few weeks ago but didn't realize it was a new Cherone band until seeing an ad for them in Classic Rock. I liked the samples on Amazon I heard yesterday so I added them to the wishlist. Probably will pick it up in a few weeks.

The last song? It's "The Murder of Daniel Faulkner (4699)."

I can't see the video here at work, but that song which posted on FB, 'The Murder of Daniel Faulkner' is a great song, the subject matter is similar to another murder that Dylan covered in his song 'The Lonesome Death of Hattie Carroll', I have to listen to Cherone song a few times more when I get home but I felt it was a great though provoking song and personally I am not familiar with the incident the song covers.

On this album he uses a couple different tones I've not heard from him before. The first and last videos above, for instance. Listen to that first verse in "Just War Theory." Sounds like Cherone, but it's a little different.

hmmmm pretty cool. Not really a Gary Charone fan but maybe I just wasn't an Extreme fan because I do like Garys Voice. I even liked him on that Van Halen album even though that wasn't that great. I really didn't want to like this band but it actually sounds pretty good.

The tune "just war theory" has this kinda/sorta B-52's/Bangle's vibe played thru a Marshall thing going on.

Got this album in a few days ago. The whole thing is great. Favorites are "Just War Theory", "Stillborn", "Painter Paint" and "Jesus Would You Meet Me".
