I've never heard a song off this (until now). I've read so many bad reviews and downright nasty comments about this thing that I totally avoided it. I'm glad that I did. What were they thinking ?

I think Eye II Eye was one of those experiments that if it worked it would have been lauded as "visionary", but as is the case in most of these extreme endeavours, it ended up being a steamin' pile of fahrvergnügen. Pardon my language.

It's like the Scorps version of easy listening with a hint of dance-pop and Smashing Pumpkins. I thought they might be dead here, it was so bad, how could they ever recover?

Scorpions - Moment Of Glory Released August 29, 2000
Track List: "Hurricane 2000" – 6:04 "Moment of Glory" – 5:08 "Send Me an Angel" – 6:19 "Wind of Change" – 7:36 "Crossfire" (Instrumental) – 6:47 "Deadly Sting Suite" (Instrumental) – 7:22 "Here in My Heart" – 4:20 "Still Loving You" – 7:28 "Big City Nights" – 4:37 "Lady Starlight" – 5:32
After the utter failure known as "Eye II Eye", Scorpions decided to pull the trigger and do something they had been working on (and off) for 5 years and release an album with Berlin Philharmonic Orchestra. Of course, thanks to Metallica's S&M this had become fashionable to do. I can imagine Klaus and Rudolph saw that S&M did well for Metallica, saw the sales figures for the last crap fest they released and thought they could make this work and raise sales. It sort of worked - the album went gold in Germany.....
Unlike Metallica (and KISS after them), Scorpions decided to record it in the studio. The band also included new tracks as well as new arrangement of old favorites. They also toured the album and released a DVD and it looks like this:

The album is a mixed bag - some of the tracks work well, like the above, 'Lady Starlight', 'Winds Of Change' and 'Still Lovin You'
The best track is 'Deadly Sting Suite' - the first half of the song is 'She's A Woman, He's A Man' and the last part is 'Dynamite'
The title track 'Moment Of Glory' sounds like something you would hear at Epcot during the 'Illuminations Of Earth" show. It was used as the theme song of Expo 2000m which was the World's Fair in 2000 in Germany.
Where the album fails, it fails big time. Or as the 'kids' today say, "Epic Fail". Having other vocalist duet with Klaus - bad idea. Having someone else sing 'Big City Nights' - worse. The epic fail come in when the Scorpions record a song written by Diane Warren (I guess they thought, hey, it worked for Aerosmith) that was originally recorded by Tiffany.
This is just a weird album - parts are cool and sound good, other parts are boring and sound like adult contemporary and other parts just plain suck. Parts of it sound like a soundtrack to a Vegas style show. Just an odd album. Hats off to the Scorps for trying this, but they should have thought the ideas through better and not recorded a Tiffany song written by Dianne Warren....

I've heard Hurricane 2000 but that's it. These kind of things don't interest me in the least (including the KISS Symphony and I'm a huge fan of their's) so I never was inclined to get this and I know I never will. Just not my thing.

At this point this trend of metal bands with orchestras reached the point of absurdity, I have this on DVD and I love the Scorpions, love orchestras but together it did not gel.

Never bothered with this one due to my general lack of interest in live albums. I did stumble across "Hurricane 2000" on VH1 around the time the album was current and thinking "ehhh, that's not too bad" but it didn't move me to race out to the CD store to pick it up either.
The album cover is hilarious, by the way.

Scorpions - Acoustica Released May 14, 2001
Track List: All tracks by Rudolf Schenker and Klaus Meine, except where otherwise noted. "The Zoo" - 5:49 "Always Somewhere" - 4:10 "Life Is Too Short" - 5:18 "Holiday" - 5:55 "You and I" (Meine) - 5:19 "When Love Kills Love" - 4:53 "Dust in the Wind" (Livgren) - 3:49 (Kansas cover) "Send Me an Angel" - 5:24 "Catch Your Train" - 3:46 "I Wanted to Cry (But the Tears Wouldn't Come)" - 3:47 "Wind of Change" (Meine) - 5:34 "Love of My Life" (Mercury) - 2:26 (Queen cover) "Drive" (Ocasek) - 4:00 (The Cars cover) "Still Loving You" - 5:45 "Hurricane 2001" (Schenker/Meine/Rarebell) - 4:35
Less than a year after the release of the orchestra/scorps combo 'Moment Of Glory', the band decided to try the other trend that was big in the early to mid 90's - the "Unplugged" album. Of course, this one was released after the fad had already come and gone. The band brought back Christian Kolonovits (who had worked with the band as conductor and arranger on the Moment of Glory album) to arrange the songs. Aside from 'The Zoo' and 'Hurricane', all the tracks are ballads. The album includes 4 forgettable new tracks and 3 cover tracks, including this one:

Why in the world would Scorpions cover The Cars? And if they insisted on covering The Cars, they could have picked a MUCH better song than 'Drive'. The Cars has some good music, but Drive is just pop drivel. Much like 'Moment Of Glory' this one is a mixed bag. The cover of 'Dust In The Wind' is played a bit fast for me, the cover of 'Love Of My Life' is good, but they could have picked a much better Queen song to cover.
As far as the Scorpions song, 'The Zoo' is a great way to kick things off. 'Holiday' and 'Always Somewhere' is great, plus Scorpions get bonus points for including 'Catch Your Train' from 'Virgin Killer'. Overall, a better release than 'Moment Of Glory' but they could have pulled together a much better track list.

Skipped this one too. Did it even get a U.S. release? I know one of my friends complained about how much he had to pay for an import version from Amazon. Said friend let me borrow his copy for awhile, I spun it once or twice, went "Ehhh, whatever" and gave it back to him.

Never even heard of Acoustica until this thread. I guess they were really reaching on this one.

Never heard Scorpions - Acoustica or Moment Of Glory. Just didn't even care enough to check them out. I noticed Acoustica sells for quite a bit of money on Amazon.

In 2004, the ultimate Scorpions 'Best Of' collection was released. This is the only compilation to feature songs from both the RCA and Mercury years in one set. Not much to say about this box set, I don't own it but I already have all the songs. Disc 1 and 2 are the best disc as the contain both the Uli Jon Roth era and Lovedrive - Love At First Sting tracks. Disc three contains some great tracks from 'Crazy World' and then the quality of the disc just drops due to the lame songs from the last 4 releases.
If you don't have any Scorpions and want an excellent overview of their music, I would recommend this set before any other of the 'Greatest Hits" albums.

I can't tell you how many times I wanted to buy this. Instead I decided that I would go back and get the early stuff, which I did, when I bought "Taken By Force" (which was remastered). I then bought the Axe Killer series, which included ("Fly", "In Trance", and "Virgin"). Next, I got "Lovedrive", "Animal", and "Blackout". That in a nutshell was everything I needed to complete my Scorpions collection. I already had "Love at first Sting", "World Wide", "Savage", and their next two. I would recommend this if you don't have anything from the Uli years or much from the Mercury years.

Looks like a nice set but as usual, boxes like these are a little too rich for my blood so I've never pulled the trigger on it.

Nice collection but I'll pass on it. I'm usually only interested in these things if there's some exclusive material on them and this appears to not have any.

I scored this at a pawn shop a few years ago for 3 bucks. Good to have something with the RCA and Mercury stuff. Can't say that I have finished disc three too often.

If you don't mind me back tracking a little, I picked up a used copy of the Scorps' TAKEN BY FORCE (remastered, +1 live bonus track), inspired by this thread!
