I will check out the debut because on Deuce, the vocals were interesting and the musicmanship was there but the songs just didn't connect with me.

Yes, and she was on Night Court(before Markie Post), as well.


It's ok, especially considering that is Produced by Ian Hunter And Mick Ronson. They also play on it along with Martin Briley(who plays bass on this album) and some other cats that I don't recognize. She only has a co-write on one song, one is a Stones cover "Stupid Girl", one written by Hunter and the rest outside writers and another cover.


Some songs have that Meatloaf vibe without the Steinman production. Others... that new wave power pop thing that was going on around then. Too many different directions. Thunder And Rain is good. On first impression it has a weird Duran Duran Rio feel to it and then just abruptly ends(weird fade-out). It is the best produced song on the album. I think more songs in this direction would have been a good choice. There are some nice guitar melodies here and there, but nothing to knock your socks off.

I like that Ellen Foley album.

I could also be hearing it with nostalgic ears. I bought that album on vinyl when it came out because I knew she was the chick doing the vox on Bat Out Of Hell. She had several subsequent releases but I don't remember any of them being as good as Nightout
