| Are they considered to be nu-metal? Metal Archives classifies them as Technical Post-Thrash Metal | |

| Nu-Metal?! WTF?! No way.
Meshuggah is like a combination of deathcore and industrial - but nothing close to nu-metal.

They are about as nu-metal as Judas Priest is hip-hop

| Meshuggah is neither deathcore not industrial nor nu-metal. I would just say that it's technical groove metal with hints of thrash. | |

| Not really a fan of this band. Though I admit I am not all that familiar with their material, what I did hear didn't really peak my interest to check out more. Am I missing out on something? _________________ ULTIMATUM - TOO METAL FOR WIKIPEDIA!

| I class them as annoying, the vocals ruin it for me. |

I don't think so Scott. I listened to them last night. It was some album called Catch 33. I liked it ok but then I like most everything that I listen to. I will probably give another album or two a listen as well. Knowing your tastes towards death metal type vocals I would say that they are not for you. But the album Catch 33 did get awful weird at times.

| They started out as a Metallica/Megadeth/Testament style thrash band in the late 1980s, but then they moved towards the groove/post-thrash sound they are known for. I haven't heard their last few albums, though.
By the way, the band's name is spelled Meshuggah, not Messuggah.

I agree, though I do still like Contradictions Collapse and None, their overblown for the most part. Catch 33 is one of the worst most redundant albums of the past decade.

| It's not really my fave kind of thing, but nobody does odd-meter grooves as well as these guys. Just when you think you're settling into the groove, they change the accent on the beat or they all play something different at the same time and somehow keep it together and come back to the groove. | |

| I saw this band live in 1995 and back in the day you would have called that band "Death Metal". | |

| For Meshuggah the vocals are monotonous and I think that takes away from their songs. | |

I think some more melodic vocals would make this band a lot more interesting to me.

| All I know about this band is that seven or eight years ago they were a running joke on the Blabbermouth message boards -- it didn't matter what band they were reporting on, the comments under the articles were guaranteed to have at least one random moron posting "MESHUGGAH!" for no apparent reason. _________________ "If you're a false, don't entry, because you'll be burned and died!"
