My PS3 refuses to start

I tried to turn it on, and it refuses to. I hit the on button, and it'll turn on for a second. Then the green light will turn yellow, and then red. I tried to eject the disc that was in the machine, and it refuses to come out.

I once had this same experience with a girl.

Best to call sony RF, unless you are stil under warrenty in that case bring it back to where you purchased it and either the store or Sony should replace it for you.

I used to work for Sony, so my answer is no!

I dunno - I use mine all the time and no freeze-ups or problems occured to this day. Weird.

I have had mine for over three and a half years.

Anyways, I am getting it repaired, and hope to have it back soon.

Funny story - I have an XBOX 360 (well, my brother has), and once it did something similar, just showing red soon after you pressed the button - apparently, this thing made of copper inside had somehow failed, and become defect - it costs like 70 dollars to buy a new one, so it got me thinking - "Hmmmm....our 25 øre (out version of "cents") coins are made of copper...why not melt four of those together, to create sort of the same thing?" - I did so....and it worked! So, that cost me about 18 cents, as opposed to the store-bought thing that cost 70 dollars

I got my machine back today.

It turns out that if I want to go on the Internet with the PS3 network, it'll work just fine. But if I put a disc in the machine, it won't work. The system automatically freezes up and the games refuse to start.

Wow! Totally weird.

It's now official; my PS3 will no longer play any discs. The repairman tried everything, and nothing would work.

I say you should smash it with a hammer, then mail each piece back to Sony in a separate package, each marked Cash On Delivery.

Don't sell out to the 360! Just get a new PS3 'cause Uncharted 3 is coming out and that shitt looks amazing!

My GF wants to get a PS3. We're looking into getting a new TV and there are some deals right now with Sony TV bundles with a PS3 included. I figured out the price and if I was to get the bundle I would probably only be saving around $50 instead of buying it sperately. Also I haven't seen the bundle with a 55 inch TV at a reasonable price either so I haven't gotten anything. Im betting on a better sale possibly for new years.

My thing is I have an XBOX which I use all the time. I kind of got bored with PS3. The only thing PS3 really has an advantage over XBOX for me is, PS3 has free internet. XBOX used to be $50 a year but now they raised it to $60. Then I have Netflix that I watch through XBox and theres another $10 right there, and I believe they are raising that price to $12. So to save a few bucks the PS3 would be nice but then what do I do when I want to go online with my XBox? Decisions decisions decisions.....

Yell abuse at it, then try and find a place that'll fix it/use the warranty.

I never understood the 360 vs ps3 debate.

It's like the Genesis vs SNES debate.

These debates and the cyberbullying that goes on youtube and on various forums is devoid of any logic and reason.

All consoles have their share of good games and not so good games. Some games are better on the 360 some are just as good on the PS3. The only major difference (apart from the fact that PS3 can play blu-rays) is in the exclusive titles.

I'm a ps3 owner but if I had more time to play games I'd probably get a 360 too for good measure to experience some of the exclusive titles released on that console.

Generally, both consoles receive the same titles and generally there is no real difference between them (none that I can spot so far but I have heard FF13 was meant to be better on ps3 , I dunno if that's true or not). If you want to play a game like Brutal Legend then there's no real difference on which console you play it. It's the same damn game.
