I'm listening to Veni Domine right now and I listened to that Majestic Vanguard yesterday.

I've heard people criticize MV as being weak and not having any power in their power metal but I just don't see it, it's perfectly good melodic power metal, well played and decent hooks in the riffs and vocals. I would look forward to a second recording if they want to do one.

The woman in this band had such a beautiful voice and the guitar solos were mesmerizing. Too bad they broke up and some of their albums are out of print.

OK, I've spun this one completely and I can now say that the Beth Hart we knew and loved is virtually non-existent on this album.

The Janis Joplin-esque vocals we've known on Screamin' For My Supper and Leave The Light On only surface once on this album (Take It Easy On Me). The rest is so polished and restrained that it reminds me more of a Carly Simon album than what I loved by Beth Hart.

Man I am disappointed to hear that I am huge huge fan of hers. I am sure live she will still be kicking ass.

Actually, the songs on this are still quite good but she just never cuts her voice loose. And there's a ton of studio wizardry all over the album which take away whatever "rawness" Beth could have brought.

I would love to see a remixed version of this album because I think her songwriting is still great; it's just that the whole thing is way too restrained compared to what we're used to from Beth.

Listening to this it's really hard to believe this is the same artist who blew us away with her versions of Whole Lotta Love and I Don't Need No Doctor. There's no trace of that vocal power here.
