I've been on a bit of an M.S.G. trip over the past week. I was reviewing "In the Midst of Beauty" which features 4/5 of the original MSG line-up. It's a good album and prompted me to go back and pull out those first four M.S.G. albums. Last week I purchased "Unforgiven World Tour: Live" and it's a fantastic live album. I'd highly recommend it. It features a lot of MSG classics, a few UFO classics, and even a Scorpions song. It also features most of Schenker's best known instrumentals "Captain Nemo" "Into the Arena" "Bijou Pleasurette" and Essence".

Any other Schenker fans? Favorites?

I am huge Michael Schenker fan and my favorite Michael Schenker Group album is 'Assault Attack' which I still have not replaced on vinyl for some odd reason.

IMO his first three studio albums are hard to beat, melodic and heavy at the same time, I also like his 4th studio album 'Built to Destroy' and I should said the first 4 studio albums.

When he added Robin McAuley to the mix, he personally lost me as a fan, those albums were ok but I did not feel the world needed one more pop metal band.

I hate to admit it but I have not heard much of his post McAuley-Schenker era, except one instrumental album I own by Schenker which is excellent.

You should check out "In the Midst of Beauty". Vexer6 hooked me up with a copy to review and I was surprised how much I liked it. Barden does an admirable job though doesn't really push himself like he did on those first three albums. There are no high falsetto parts like on "Attack of the Mad Axeman" or "On and On".

The live album I mentioned is also worth checking into. You can get it fairly cheap right now on Amazon.

I will check out 'In the Midst of Beauty' and the live 'Unforgiven Tour'

Speaking of live albums the live album 'Rock Will Never Die' is an excellent live album but my understanding is Schenker overdubbed alot of it, so how much of a 'live' album it really is up to debate but I could care less either way because I love it.

I really like the 3 studio albums he did with Robin McAuley but i also like the old MSG years. I am going to check out the new MSG album. I bought TALES OF ROCK AND ROLL but that one is not very good. Does anybody know about a live album with McAULEY, not the acustic one, but real guitar live one?????

No. I'll have to check into it.

I do have the album he did with Contraband, though I haven't actually heard it in years.

I had that Contraband album on cassette years ago, but never upgraded to cd. I've thought about it a coupla times, but passed.

The only Michael Shenker album I have is Heavy Hitters, which is all covers with different vocalists. I had a Best of MSG cd at one point, but traded it away.

Oh, and a best of UFO. I guess that counts since he's on a few tracks.

Love the first four studio albums and Budakon freakin' KILLS(It was my first MSG album. I put it on tape and played it to death). I do like the first two McAuley/Schenker albums and The Unforgiven w/Keeling(he sounds kinda like Ian Gillan on that album).
